A tip to reduce the impact force on the insert and part is to tangentially engage the insert by setting the cutting diameter slightly larger than the width of the part.

Just wanted to say I really appreciated the reply you gave to a guy on his use of this tool. Looks like he didn’t have his machine set up for a tool like this and you had I think 4 great suggestions for him. Not sure if he understood but I was sure interested because I have seen what an awesome job this tool does when you use it with a proper set up. The guy I was watching looked like he would have had a tuff time using a drill press let alone a tool like this. So thanks again for sharing your thoughts and knowledge. This is what we need. 👍😊. PPF racing was his name. I hope he did as you suggested

@@richsharp1524 Hi Rich, thank you for your comments! I remember the reply you are talking about, he seemed to be new to machining at the time, I subscribed to his channel and he is making good progress. He just did a video in December using the cutter to mill a cylinder head on his Bridgeport kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpCtYoiNq82sfs0 about 10 minutes in the milling starts. You should be getting your cutter set by Tuesday, of this week, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, and thanks again for your business! Tim

I have similar tool not a suburban one. I run it on a mini mill. In aluminum I run about 750-900 rpm’s seem to be if I go much faster the machine starts to get a slight vibration. Don’t want to ruin my spindle. I get pretty good surface finishes in steel and tool steels. Thanks for the video!

It's very difficult to do spindle damage even with an unbalanced cutter, but not good for the finish or safety. Along with a lack machine rigidity, being out of level or the machine not touching on all feet will be exploited by an unbalanced cutter. Sometimes fixing those issues by leveling and bolting the machine to a very sturdy surface can help. I have seen Bridgeport machines vibrate all over because the leveling feet were not all touching the ground. Thank you for watching our videos!

Do you know if that cutter can mill the face of a golf putter.
@mvpmachine
@mvpmachine Жыл бұрын
Hi Manuel, It would really depend on the material the putter is made from. If you are looking for a pattern similar to the one shown in this video : kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWTYgKajh5eZmck I would suspect you could achieve that with this cutter with a slow spindle speed and faster feed rate. Regarding material it will cut most materials with the exception of higher rockwell hardness metals and it has trouble with some grades of stainless steel.

You would see some with magnification, but you can not feel or see machining marks with the naked eye.
