Oak Creek is beautiful and pretty dang fun. They don't stock during the winter, but there are always wild brown trout and holdover Gilas and Rainbows 🤙🤙

I need to go check out oak creek. I have only been there once and it was very brief. Those are some nice fish

It's off-season for stocked trout right now (no winter stocking there), but there are still wild brown trout, holdover stockers, and it's always beautiful! 🙂🙂✌️🎣

Another amazing outing. I was just chatting with a co-worker who is in Phoenix about your videos and how I am amazed how you can be fishing urban canals one day and these crazy clear mountain streams that look strait out of Montana the next.

Hey brother! Yeah, I am still amazed sometimes at how crazy diverse the state of Arizona is. Hot barren deserts and snowy ice cold mountain peaks. And it all provides such amazingly diverse fishing opportunities! 🙂✌️🎣

on your own fly after all the rejections! that's got to feel good.

It really did, haha!! And that fly was so lame... It was tied with a rubber band to even out the body, some chartreuse leather, and a few white and glitter threads for a streaming effect! 😂😂😂✌️🎣

Nice Kevin! Some quality fish! That purple wooly bugger is the only thing that the trout at Rose Canyon were eating one day. Nobody caught a thing except these 2 fly fisherman. There were hundreds of trout real shallow, they'd just been stocked.

Hey Kathy! Great to hear from you and thanks for watching! Yeah, the Wooly Bugger is a pretty awesome and diverse fly; I've caught trout, bass, tilapia, bluegill, and carp with it! 🙂✌️🎣

Great seeing you reeling them in on a trout stream. You are an all around angler. Cool vid. Thanks for commenting on what flies you are using. If i can ask, what time of year were you up there? Im hoping to throw my line in up there around Thanksgiving break.

Hey, thanks for watching and commenting. This was in the spring time (I want to say April). But fall is a great time to fish Oak Creek as well! 🙂✌️🎣

I find for AZ I just need 2 rods a 7'6" 4wt with floating line and a 9' 6wt with sinking line.
@KevinRapkochFishing Жыл бұрын
That sounds about right to me! I do fly fish for carp every now and again, and an 8 wt comes in handy for those 20+ pounders! 🙂🙂✌️🎣
@MrRourk Жыл бұрын
@@KevinRapkochFishing I have not gone after the big gold fish yet. I was thinking you would need a 9 or 10wt for them big fatty fish.
@KevinRapkochFishing Жыл бұрын
@@MrRourk yeah, it's more the line weight that is the issue with them... Anything more than 10lb line spooks them (and often times anything more than 6lb). I caught this crazy big linear mirror Koi on my 3 wt though, haha! 👉kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4q9eIuertdnmbc

Oak Creek is perfect for a 3wt rod. I didn't know that there were Gilas in OC. I just thought it was browns below and bows up top.
@KevinRapkochFishing9 ай бұрын
Yeah, it's definitely an awesome creek for a 3wt. They've had on/off stockings of Gila Trout in there for some years now, and the Gila can repopulate (kind of an attempt to restore the original Gila Trout population in that creek). Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! 🙂✌️🎣

Oak Creek is fun; so are the Rim and White Mountains. You can explore the Arizona fish and game website to see more specifics about where fish are stocked and/or present in our lakes and streams. 🙂✌️🎣

I want to fish for trout from a creek, I usually go to clear creek in camp verde, and I have caught trout but only where they stock. Where’s a spot I can camp and walk the creek and fish for trout all day? Thanks
@KevinRapkochFishing Жыл бұрын
For Oak Creek, you have to camp in the designated camp sites. Hope that helps!! Good luck, man!! 🙂✌️🎣

Is this the West Fork area?

Near that area (within the single, barbless hook, catch and release only boundaries)
