Great casting skills, you are now the master grasshopper. I wouldn't be surprised to see you blindfolded still casting your fly to the rising fish and still catch a trout in the thick vegetation.
@robbiefishing4 күн бұрын
Haha thanks Vincent. I only leave the good casts in though. 😂😂😂

Great video Robbie. I caught a goldfish too near my home. Pound for pound they fight harder and take the bait more than carp. Well it was actually a hybrid. But still, unbelievable haha.
@robbiefishing3 күн бұрын
Thanks mate, and well done. 👍👍 It is quite common for carp to hybridise. .

Nomenclature is the name or term applied to something, in this case are they crucian carp or goldfish or a golden version of the crucian carp the experts can’t agree so they can’t give them a common name, I’ve been using those little bladed nymphs that you used in one of your videos to catch Redfin at greens lake , so much fun on lite tackle, you can buy them at the service station at Jamison if anyone is interested, nice one Robbie

Gday Robbie! Awesome footage as always. If you’re interested in some close up footage of Platypuses I’d say try up the far end of the buffalo river arm at lake buffalo as I saw at least 6 different individuals whilst kayaking last weekend.
@robbiefishing3 күн бұрын
Thanks mate, there certainly seems to be a lot around that area. I photographed one in the Buffalo River just up from the lake a few weeks back.

Crucian carp and goldfish are similar in appearance, but there are several ways to tell them apart: Dorsal fin: Crucian carp have a convex dorsal fin, while goldfish have a straight or concave dorsal fin. Scales: Crucian carp have smaller scales than goldfish. Gill rakers: Crucian carp have fewer and shorter gill rakers than goldfish. Caudal fin: Crucian carp have a shallowly forked caudal fin, while goldfish have a deeply forked caudal fin. Body shape: Crucian carp have a deeper, more laterally compressed body than goldfish. Snout: Crucian carp have a well-rounded snout, while goldfish have a more pointed snout. Tail spot: Juvenile crucian carp have a black spot on the base of their tail, but goldfish do not. Color: Crucian carp are golden bronze in color, while goldfish can be olive-bronze to golden, or orange-red. Fins: Crucian carp have spine-like anal fins, while goldfish have a saw-toothed main front spine in both dorsal and anal fins. Crucian carp and goldfish are related, as goldfish are domesticated varieties of crucian carp. However, modern genetic sequencing has shown that goldfish are actually domesticated varieties of Carassius auratus, which are native to Southern China.

Yep, in small water that is max 12 inches deep...I won't bother with a nymph. Just run a dry. The trout will come up to a nice dry.

Watching from uk here ! Was wondering how big do the perch ( red fin ) grow in Australia, whats the biggest recorded , . In our big trout reservoirs the perch go 4lb or more thriving on neglect, . Certainly an interesting subject how n were they came from n got there. Great videos. Crusian carp are disc like and a stunning fish look them up .Gold fish are a Japanese crusian which is basically a prussian carp . Hope that clears it up for you 👍
@robbiefishing3 күн бұрын
Thanks mate. The biggest redfin that I have caught was 47cm and 1.2kg. I've seen photos of them over 59cm and weighing around 5lb, but they are monsters. Anything over 30cm is considered a very big redfin here.

Enjoyed this mate & WHhhaatttt! Ahh G'day mate. Wondering if you could try fishing with just a hook & worms with a small mirror attached as weight. The Redfin seem to be attracted to change. Anyway, random thougt, cheers!
