I'm more of a ' visual ' kind of leaner ( is everyone ? ). So your graphics regarding the role cast being made on the inboard side of the anchor has made much more of an impression on my rapidly failing mind than, just saying it and a demonstration on the water, which disappeares as fast as it was said. Great videos, thank you.

Great demo, didn’t knew about that rig 👌, what editing program do you use please? Thanks! Also I would suggest to incorporate two elements on the clip 🙂 1- how to maintain the rod tip straight line path before the late wrist rotation to maximize proper rod load VS the common “mistake” on early wrist rotation that causing wide loops. Witch itself I consider wide loops, are not a bad thing in some situations either, only less efficient but equally important to master. 2- the option of the “grass leader” it’s not like a water tension anchor, but very dynamic and with very important mirror sensations to the actual water anchor. You should show that, there is nothing showing how to grass leader in this platform!! Thank you so much for your time to share. Stay tight! Mag

i've done the grass leader thing and didn't like it so I don't suggest it. I found the pickup wasn't smooth and made for erratic casts. About you first point, that's true of overhead casting in general, but with each video I try not to over complicate things, so instead I stick to a simple learning objective that covers only a few basics. I could've droned on and on about a dozen things related to roll casting and in the end it would just be too much. How to deliver a clean forward stroke is the subject matter for another video. I use Final Cut Pro X for my editing software.

this is probably a dumb question but I've been though hundreds of videos on how to cast but no one ever shows step 1... the technique to get the line out of the rod in prep to cast and also how much line etc. do you pull it out form the tip of the rod or do you pull it from the reel and wobble it out the tip later? why why why lol

Ya, probably worth a video. I thread the rod and in the process pull out 5' or 6' of line out of the guides, then pull more line off the reel and let it drop to the water. I then have the choice wiggling some S curves in the line that will pull all the line out, or a roll cast, or simply overhead cast the line out. There has to be enough line out of the guides to start with in order to get enough weight to pull the rest of the line out.

Hi Pete big fan love your videos. I don’t understand your wood And hook system. If you tie your leader to the hook , when you roll cast doesn’t the leader stop the line from extending? Any help on this would be appreciated, Thanks Again

Roll casting on grass is difficult as there is no grip on the anchor in the way that water would provide the grip. The wood provides that grip. The purpose isn't to extend the roll cast, rather just learn the dynamics.

Oh good. 99% of my casting is on the grass. I need an anchor. Didn’t know you could that
