Fly Fishing for Steelhead - Salmon River, New York - 4k Video

In this video, five of my buddies with varying levels of fly fishing experience join me on New York's Salmon River in pursuit of winter Steelhead. As you can see, these fish are tough to land and can expose any angling weakness you may have. Ultimately, most of them were able to land a steelhead and it is safe to say they themselves are hooked. Over the course of 3 days I believe we went somewhere in the range of 7 fish landed out of 23 fish fought. There were a number of hits and fish hooked only momentarily that I am leaving out of that statistic. Definitely learned some lessons for our next trip up to Pulaski.

Yup, some in the fly zone some down below. Flyzone will often have too many people so we jump below. Just as many fish and less pressure.

Downside to beaching is the fish flopping around and slamming its head into rocks. A net boot camp may be in order this off season.
