Fly Fishing For Trout on The East Carson River

I fish the East Carson River on 9/18/20 using Tenkara rods to catch wild rainbow trout. Like all my shows I provide all the details you need to go out and attempt to catch fish including baits, techniques, equipment and locations.

One thing you did not mention, from Hangman's bridge on HWY 89/4 to the the Nevada state line, only artificial lures with single barbless hook may be used, zero keep on non hatchery fish. The very quick look at the sign with the regulations, was way too fast to read. I recommend to any one fishing any part of California download and print the regulations, especially the special regs. sections as applied to different parts of many rivers, streams and lakes. Like a lot of bureaucratic/political foul ups in this state, California no longer prints hard copies of the booklet.

I love this 3 part series. You absolutely killed it. Thanks so much for sharing your gear, techniques and location. I’ve been curious about tenkara setup. I’m absolutely impressed that was your first time on the trophy section and had that much action. I’m also a newbie & have only fished the trophy section once. Love the Tenkara set-up and keeping it simple. Man, I've done Death Ride numerous times and always wanted to fish the East Carson, have to give it a try when I'm up there.

Simrit I have fished it and catch any big ones. The water was to warm. I will give it another go in the fall
