How long of a leader do you use in that spot that's 6m deep? I wonder if you need to be near the bottom in pools like that or if the fish are just suspended halfway down sometimes

I’ve found you need to be on the bottom. It’s 6 at its deepest and it shallows to I’m guessing around 4 or 5 in spots. I have a 10 ft rod and go a rod and a half for my leader so just under 5m long. Pain to cast.

Just on that - how long are your leaders in that first spot? I need to be more patient on the tongariro it seems.

TheOilfieldbaby My leader in the first spot is quite short. I’d say around 6 feet. I then make small adjustments by sliding my indicator up and down. If you check out my other videos there is a video on how to make an adjustable sliding indicator.

That when a soft bait would come in handy when like that it's a shame it's only fly rod only when you should be able to take both on the water silly if you ask me but that's NZ regulations for ya lols blame the net 😂good on ya mate cheers for the video
