Join myself (Mike Kirkpatrick) and mate, on a long day trip away from our home base at the top of New Zealand's South Island. It's sunny, and with no other anglers about, we chase big brown trout on this early season day with a degree of confidence in finding a few... We find some indeed and the quality of fish is welcome for so early in spring.
Music kindly provided by Jay Kennedy of 'The River Project' and includes tracks 'Rise and Fall' and 'Louis to Isabella' from the album 'Solar Controller' I highly recommend this album available by contacting Jay at: jkflyfisherman@icloud.com
Jay is a client and friend and more people should be hearing his bands music.
Mike Kirkpatrick is available for guided fly fishing based in the nelson district www.latitudeguiding.co.nz
PLEASE also LIKE SUBSCRIBE and COMMENT. Also hit the NOTIFICATION BELL to be alerted to more of my content coming soon. We appreciate any generosity and understanding that your donation helps pay for the investment in gear & time to provide quality content on a continual basis.

Oh I see, so it's just a slightly thicker/heavier length of line. I use a meter of about 40lb line after my fly line for that, and then taper it down from 10 to 5 or 4. works well.

Riiiight... Trout here in NZ feed predominantly sub surface (about 80%) so an enlightened angler will recognize what a sighted trout is doing and use the appropriate technique... not rocket science is it?. Although someone who has to abbreviate 'why are you' to Y R U - is certainly not a rocket scientist, and further to that, probably uncivilized...
