Fly Fishing the Warm River in Idaho with my daughter, Megan. Euro-Nymphing

Thank you for this video. My family has been coming here to camp and fish for 6 generations and it brings warmth to my heart to see someone experiencing our little garden of Eden for the first time. When I was younger.......I'd stay on the railroad trail for another 3 miles then scramble down the hillside to the river. Monster Brown Trout devour streamers in the late spring. In the winter when the air drops below freezing, the 52 degree water becomes shrouded in steam. Hence, the Warm River.

It is a little garden of Eden. People were really friendly and everything was nicely maintained. After dropping off Megan at the airport, so she could back to her 9 to 5 job, I did a little exploring heading up to fish the headwaters and the area where the spring flows out of the mountain side. Small trout, and tough to fish within the plant growth in the waters right below the spring (when no insects are hatching). But the ride into and out of the area was filled with cattle (cows) along side and in the road. Megan would have loved seeing this - so I need to spend time, edit and post this video. She is, thanks for kind words. And she likes filming more than fishing - and is telling me that I am now stuck with her on all my trips. So we're planning one for this Spring - maybe in the Lake Placid area of upstate New York

No, the heavier rain fall was north of this area, and this river is primarily spring fed, which is why we wanted to check it out.

It is 2 days after we were evacuated from Yellowstone and had to change up our plans to find other things to do in the area - and we were lucky to find this gem of a river about 20 miles south of the park's west enterance.

The problem with fishing here is dealing with float tubers who have no regard for fisherman. You’re better off fishing further up the canyon.
