Thank you for sharing your trip and Caitlins Birthday. How nice to make her a little cake and sing Happy Birthday while the loons are calling, what a great memory to carry with you both! I do believe I know the lake you were on, beautiful. Lastly, it's winter here now and one small part of your video put me to one of my favorite parts of life, a cup of coffee sitting on the rocks in the morning sun on a canoe trip, Thank You!

Awesome! A buddy and I did a fly in moose hunting camping trip a few years ago. We loved that we had the area to our selves. Flying in a DeHavilland Beaver is an experience that every Canadian who loves the outdoors should experience at least once in their lives!

Yes agreed! Love the feeling of being dropped off and listening to the plane leaving in the distance leaving you with just the silence of the wilderness...

We cannot believe how clear that water was in front of your shelter. We have pretty clear water in the Adirondacks but that somehow seemed clearer. Was it the best birthday ever?

yes it was beautiful... definitely best birthday yet :)

I read a lot of the old time cowboys in the west. I seem to remember they settled the coffee grounds by putting a little bit of cold water on top of the coffee in the pot after boiling the coffee.

What a memorable birthday Caitlin! So peaceful! Good coffee filter improvise! The crunchy things Cody's eating look a little sketchy! Would have loved to see how you tie the canoe onto the plane? Great video editing!
@TheTimberLife5 жыл бұрын
Debi Bokshowan and they tasted like nothing, they needed some seasoning:). They used thick ratchet straps to tie down the canoe - I wish I could have shown that part but I was already tightly buckled and strapped into the co- pilot seat :)

Another new subscriber still playing catch up! This looked like such a fun birthday! One question though, how and where does the canoe attach to the plane? I was very perplexed by that haha.
@erichhartmann13 жыл бұрын
They're attached onto the airplane via the floats struts that connect the fuselage (body) of the airplane to the plane. I've attached these links for you to click on to see some images of this exact same type of airplane (DHC-2 Beaver) with a canoe on the side/bottom. Here's one on the water: northofsuperiorart.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/T-0519-DIG-Huron-Air-DHC-2-Beaver-C-FDPW-with-a-canoe-tied-to-the-side.jpg And one in flight: www.airliners.net/photo/Alpine-Aviation/De-Havilland-Canada-DHC-2-Beaver-Mk1/1740137/L

Does that tarp seriously weigh 12lbs like it says on Frost River website?
@TheTimberLife4 жыл бұрын
Jason Hendrix ya it does, just weighed it. Because we flew in for this trip and were not paddling far distances or doing any portages, we could justify it. The durability and having a fire within close proximity to the tarp “outweighed” the cons. :)
@_2earthandback_4 жыл бұрын
The Timber Life thank you for the reply! I love Frost River gear but not sure if I would want to haul a 12lb tarp very far. Ha! Awesome videos and I subscribed and followed on IG. Keep em coming! 🙏🏽
