"Fly ~In-Game Version~" - Yakuza 3 (Extended)

Yakuza, known in Japan as Ryū ga Gotoku (龍が如く, Like a Dragon), is an action-adventure beat 'em up video game franchise created, owned and published by Sega. The series originated from Toshihiro Nagoshi's desire to create a game that would tell the way of life of the yakuza. Nagoshi initially struggled to find a platform for the project, until Sony showed interest in the prospect.
The series primarily focuses on the yakuza Kazuma Kiryu from the Tojo Clan. While Kiryu often assists the Tojo Clan, the series has also featured him searching for another way of life in the form of raising orphans. The gameplay of Yakuza has the player controlling Kiryu (or another character depending on the title) in an open district where he can encounter an enemy or perform an activity in the city to obtain experience.
The franchise has become a commercial and critical success, and as of 2020, Sega has reported that the Yakuza franchise has sold a combined total of 12 million units in physical and digital sales since its debut in 2005. Strong sales of the games in its original Japanese market has led to the franchise's expansion to other media, including film adaptations.

There are also several spin-off titles. One, Kenzan!, relates Kazuma Kiryu's supposed ancestor, historic figure Miyamoto Musashi from the 16th and 17th centuries; another, Dead Souls, follows a zombie invasion of Kamurocho, the primary setting for the series; a PlayStation Portable spinoff series, Kurohyō, is about a teenage street fighter from Kamurocho that ends up in a fight where he kills a Tojo clan yakuza.

Yakuza 3 really puts Kiryu to the limits of his strenght both physically and emotionally. On the first game, he fought a Koi, that which lies below him. On the second game he fought one of his kind, he fought a dragon. And on the third entry he had to come face to face against that which devours dragons, his natural predator. It really escalates into Kiryu's toughest fight.

Number one theme for me from 3 and a great fight with Mine in story and ultimate challenge mode. I kinda like Mine reasons and how he viewed what life is yup opposite from Kiryu as he is dark version of Kiryu in some ways. Love this extend. Big thanks to Like The Extender youtuber 👍.

He's like reflection of a Kiryu who could never understand the power of friends and family because he never had the fortune of having any. All he had was wits and the fortune he made with them. If mine's life had a different more bright path, Mine and Kiryu could be good friends. wich makes this fight so powerful yet tragic, he's not like Goda , who wanted to seize power over by destroying Tojo, and Kiryu was his roadblock. both wanted Tojo to keep existing, but had completely opposite ideas of how to do so. And both believed each other way would destroy the clan.

I wish Yakuza 3 gets Kiwami treatment someday. I saw so many people skipping it or even with 4 and 5 because of its old engine and uncomfortable combat. I thought it's natural for a game released over decade ago, but most of newcomers don't adapt to 3 after Kiwami 2. Yakuza 4 implemented the game much better so I guess Kiwami 3 is the only thing we need.

@@punishednerosparda2958 I enjoyed 3 too. Like your opinion, the enemies in 3 wouldn't go down by simple button mashing. You have to choose if you would dodge, parry or step back. Of course TD and Komaki parry does the trick most of the time, but still.

I started playing Yakuza as a series a year ago, started out the chronological order, 0-6, and Y3 is one of my favorites, arguably my favorite after 0, K2 and 5. Yes the combat can be a bit "annoying" with the blocks but I didn't mind it so much xD. The story is absolutely incredible, and the OST is amazing too. Definitely a great game, plus I just played Y1 and Y2 for the PS2, and knowing how different those two are from Y3, its a massive improvent, and it was jumping from fixed cameras to a fully rendered city and better combat. Just that Y3 gets treated unfairly because the jump from Dragon Engine to Kenzan Engine.

thinking about it Mine is kind of the origin point of the style system later used in Kiwami 1 and 0. You could say 4 started this by deciding the styles between characters.
