Hi Chris. I love your version of this beautiful song that gets us all closer to Jesus and God. The other day I met a nice gentleman in Calgary, Alberta (Canada) that was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer and came back here, to his hometown, to say goodbye to friends before he passes. He was a complete stranger to me, but I felt compelled to write down your name and the name of the song, and ask him to listen to you singing it. When he asked why, I told him that I hope that your version of "Fly like a Bird" is the last thing I hear when I die; it gives me such peace, hope, and a sense of closeness to God, that I sing it frequently to myself, and come back frequently on KZbin to hear it. I played this hymn at a retreat I was leading this week at Whalley Abbey in Lancashire. Those attending really appreciated it. It is beautiful. The retreat was about connections between birds of the bible and our faith as Christians. Thank you.

Chris, my father-in-law passed away suddenly last week. He was like a second father to me. This is one of the songs that I have been asked to sing at his funeral. It was unfamiliar to me. I had listened to several versions, but then I went to my go to guy (that's you). Trying to get through the tears as I sing this beautiful song. Hoping to have them all out so I can sing the song as beautifully as you. We have the same vocal range, so you have always helped me best prepare for cantoring mass. Thank you. This song reminded me of a similar song called Tsubasa wo kudasai, or "Give me wings." The summary of the song is that if there is one wish that can come true, I would ask for wings. Where there are no sorrow and pain and just soar freely with the wings in this huge sky, where there are no sorrow and pain in the sky.

Gosh Chris this was really great. I had someone ask for an "upbeat" funeral song and in the catholic church there's not a lot that immediately come to mind - but I remembered having sung this when I did a small tour with Tom Tomaszek promoting the spirit and song hymnal, went to KZbin to find a link to share with the Bereaved and was happy to hear your perfect rendition.
