This looks like a terrific pattern. I plan to tie some up soon. Our midge hatches should start up soon and I can hardly wait to use this fly. Thank you so much for these tutorials. I have learned a great deal from them.

Hi Barry, You are so good! Fun to watch. Any videos or tips on how you get the deer hair or CDC so neatly into the plastic clip? In order to tie this I think I need to know how to accomplish that. Thank you again!

I like that just not sure about the polystyrene ball n tights
@Thefeatherbender
@Thefeatherbender 2 жыл бұрын
The ball makes it float all day long, but you can substitute the tights for stockings or a balloon!

I suppose and advantage of using a hackle "loop"(hair or feather) instead of a piece of quilled feather is you can CUT the size of hackle you want rather searching for the correct length feather/quill piece. The hair is nice because it is so buoyant too!
@Thefeatherbender
@Thefeatherbender 5 жыл бұрын
Correct! you can trim hair to any length required.

Barry: I’ve watched several of your videos and noticed that you are tying on hooks that are larger than I would expect some of the patterns to be tied on. Do you do this so they are more visible on the video?
@Thefeatherbender
@Thefeatherbender 4 жыл бұрын
Hi FT, Thats correct, the way I film is also from POV so if I go onto smaller hooks the camera has to be closer to the vice and gets in the way of tying. What I try and show with the videos is techniques that you can apply to the hook size that you require.

Hi Barry I love your videos! One question about this pattern, where did you get the polystyrene balls ? and which type of mesh are you using. Thanks a lot.
@Thefeatherbender
@Thefeatherbender 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Josep, Thanks, the small polystyrene balls are from a hobby shop or from a 'bean bag' the mesh is Nylon stocking or tights.
