Great fly! But there are too many flashabou for our lakes and rivers. Our rivers and lakes are experiencing a very strong fishing pressure. Our pikes are very wary, especially in autumn, when the water becomes clear. Try using a red flush with black (in a dubbing loop) after the Double barrel popper head with a mixed brown and black bucktail or Ice fiber of the same colors. This has a great effect. I now pay more attention to the weight of the fly, so I use short, thin hooks in the tail or without a hook at all (mounting materials on a tube), and instead of metal, I use mono. This technique greatly facilitates the tail of the fly. The usual two 5-8" Schlappen feathers also work well. I used to use huge eyes too, now I have flies with 5-7mm eyes. I would like to see your flies in a lightweight version, about 12-20 centimeters and not dense in construction. I would like to see the streamer almost transparent with or without a sparse bucktail mount. My problem is that we have very strong winds on the lakes in the fall. It is not always possible to use a downwind cast, and approaching a predator closer than 25 meters means frightening it off. I'm talking about large specimens of pike. If you use Craft Fur, then it folds into a thin line and loses volume when moving. The OPST style dubbing loop helps a bit. Sorry for my English. I am using a robot translator.

@@odmflies Sorry if I offended you with my advice. I just wanted to share my experience in color combination. In fact, fly fishing entered my life in 1987 to this day. During such a long period of time, I have seen and learned a lot. And the amount of flash is a matter of taste and fishing conditions in a given reservoir. I know that the Finns and Swedes used to catch pikes with flies, which were made exclusively from flush and bucktail. I will follow your new developments on the channel. Good luck boyfriend!

Cool fly but what is the purpose of having the popper head in the middle?

Makes it suspending when fished with an intermediate line. Fishes great in shallow water and allows for long pauses. Just like a suspending lure

What kind of thread do you use? Everytime I try and really tighten it up like you do, my thread snaps. Any suggestions are appreciated. You do an amazing job

Any gsp threads from 100 to 200D. You can also use power threads from veevus or textreme. Those i use 140 to 240D

the Veevus Mono Thread is super rigid as well.

Awesome fly. Your test looked like it was on a floating line. How does it work on a full sinking line?

@@bugbiteflytying Test was done on a intermediate line. It would just float on a floating line.

@@odmflies right. Good point. I think it would be killer on full sinking line.

Aliexpress! The vendor i used to buy from doesn't seem to show up anymore... he had so many colours and sizes. You can still get some replicas of the "living eyes" on there. Name of the brand is ICERIO
