I use those alchohol prep pads, like what they use at the hospital to give shots. They take all the tack off the loon thick and leave a nice sparkling finish

Very nice! I tie something very similar but prefer a dubbing brush collar rabbit collar rather than the cross-cut strip - both ways work great. The bass and crappies love it!

Will pinching the thread head before putting the eyes weaken the thread wraps? i did the same with my deceiver pattern head before and the eyes will seem to loosen and rotate with the head of the fly after a few fish. Is there something i'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any replies

I tie a very similar fly. I'll do a cone head for deeper or fast water. Trout and snook destroy it
