Used this pattern in size 12 and 14 on the San Juan River in New Mexico today. Best day ever for me on me on this River. 20+ bows and browns. Awesome pattern!

I make an identical fly for fishing the Tongariro River down-under in NZ. I copied it from a Scandanavian KZbin site. Works well in NZ too. Thanks.

This fly catches fish, but you gotta have the right color pink bead. Caught winter browns in PA and UT. Thanks, Lance.

went into FFF to pick up some stuff I'll likely never use to tie flies i'll likely never use (I mean lets be honest right?) and I do love it hah, This fly is one that my daughter picked out and asked me to learn how to tie.

Same or virtually the same as a Roza's Red tag / or its variant Violet tag fly available from Fulling Mills.

We have the fulling mill pattern in the shop. Pretty bug differences in color

What are the differences between this and the blowtorch?
@FlyFishFood3 жыл бұрын
Pretty much the only similarity between the two is the tag color

@@FlyFishFood understood, just seemed very similar, just varying the dubbing and rib materials. Appreciate the tying videos!

Wtf this is by far most effective single fly I’ve fished. Kills my local Wiley tailwater browns. Can’t help themselves.

What’s your opinion comparing this to Devin Olsens Blowtorch? I realize that the hares ear dubbing body is different but it seems like a good variation. Thanx
@devonbustard16233 жыл бұрын
The blowtorch is a little bit more loud compared to this. Though it is an attractor, it’s definitely more imitative compared to some other attractors like bright perdigons and blowtorches. If fish are ignoring bright and loud patterns, this may be a good fly to use on point as an attractor and then have a drab imitative fly on the dropper!
