Gotta give this channel a big thumbs up, because exactly one year ago I accidently found Fly vs jerk 5, which was airing at the time and after that I was so hooked to pike fly fishing that I didnt use any other fishing method last summer.

***** Not yet, I have only fished in lakes so the biggest has only been around 5 kg. Hopefully I catch the 10+kg next spring when I go to my friends place at the sea.

Leader touch means the fish counts for numbers. So if the fish gets loose from the hooks right at the boat BUT you have touched the leader it still counts.

I know that most tournament rules state that a team member must touch the leader for the catch to count, but where does the rule come from? Why does it exist?

***** Ah, found the reason: IGFA will consider a fish officially released when one of the following actions is completed: A. The mate is able to grab the leader B. The swivel hits the rod tip C. The connection (knot, splice, etc.) between the leader and the mainline/double line/ fly line passes through the rod tip In other words, the mate touches the leader so the person with the catch won't have to do any of the other two things.
