I think the life vest in overhead is for a couple of reasons. 1 - it provides a bit more storage underneath the seat in front when there’s tight pitch. 2 - it reduces theft. We all know there are some passengers that will take anything from anywhere - passenger safety cards, etc. My understanding is that those vests are not cheap, so only needing to replace the vests when they expire reduces total cost. The only other airlines I’ve seen do this are other low cost (thinking Ryanair in particular).
@tfft9 ай бұрын
The theft part I hadn't thought about and I suppose does make sense... my thing is, there are plenty of people that cannot reach the overhead panel (especially while buckled in) vs. there's no one that can't 'reach' under the seat.

I’ve flown on two Fly Dubai’s 737 MAX 8, one on June 8th 2024 from Dubai to Tbilisi, the other 5 days later on June 13th, the reverse flight, and I got to say the seats are okay for me (I’m 5 ft 9.5 inches) but if you are taller you might not be comfortable with those seats as the legroom might be tight. But i actually liked the aircraft interior the way Fly Dubai made it feel like you are more inside a spa area rather than a plane.

This was super helpful. Fly Dubai is one of three options for a direct flight from TLV to DXB, I think I will fly El Al or Emirates instead!

Well almost every wide body aircraft on earth is more comfortable than almost any 737, so Emirates would definitely be my choice for the route as well.

You got me thinking about the overhead life jackets (too much time on my hands). That customization to store them overhead couldn’t have been cheap and reduced the overhead storage. And I actually wonder how often they’re checked to make sure they’re still functional (no rips etc).
@tfft9 ай бұрын
Someone else mentioned they're up there to reduce theft and shrink cost- which I suppose does make sense if people do actually steal them. In that case I presume there's some sort of feature which shows clearly if the compartment has been opened.

I appreciate you taking the effort to review the Middle Eastern airlines besides Emirates and Qatar. FlyDubai, Royal Jordanian, Oman etc, aren't always well known to Westerners. And Gulf Air has sadly declined a lot since their glory days in the 80s to early 90s. As for the uncomfortable seating on Flydubai, yeah its what I was expecting, but seating aside, the service isn't too bad.

This may be random but what are your favorite albums or scores you listen to during flight? Mine is In Rainbows, Blond, A Moon Shaped Pool, Phantom Thread OST, HTTYD OST, The Planets by Gustav Holst & The Banshees of Inisherin OST (I haven't tried this yet on a plane but try Bulgarian Folk Music specifically the song Theodore is Dozing as it seems good on a plane). And if the seat is tight, I recommend you to fly on Korean Air & China Airlines A321neo.
@tfft9 ай бұрын
I wouldn't say there's a specific set of music I listen to in flight vs on the ground. The only thing different in the air is, if I'm feeling like I'm on a really special flight, I'll be sure to listen to some new songs I haven't heard before and then add them to my regular playlists.

Good review!! Just some notes, it felt a bit exaggerated about the legroom of the seat , I completely get it if you’re VERY tall , but for the average people is not terrible. Also, crew doesn’t make the calculation to give the change in dirhams from other currencies, the device where the transaction is registered does it 🙃 I found also extremely unusual they didn’t dimmed the lights for night take off. Love your channel and your reviews 🙌🏻
@tfft4 ай бұрын
Not sure why I would lie about staff making calculations lol, but yes in deed, they were doing the calculations without any sort of airline device. Specifically they were calling out to each other asking the conversion rate for OMR. And I’m not that tall… but the seats are that tight. Feel free to watch literally any other economy review on my channel. This was easily the tightest economy seat I’ve been in on 50ish airlines.
@Maxi-l9n4 ай бұрын
@@tfft not saying you’re lying at all, I know from very first hand 😉 calculations are not done manually to give change, surprised this was the case tho 👀. And I agree 100% the legroom is extremely far from being the best but not thaaaat terrible. I always watch your reviews, keep the good job💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻🙂

You lucked out if I may say so. Delays and flight cancellations at last minute are a common occurrence with flydubai. One time they closed the gate on me with 45 minutes still left to go. Nearly all 737 aisles are narrower than the comparable A320- the claustrophobic style overhead bins don't aid in making it feel more spacious either.

Galleys I never show especially while boarding as 1. I don’t purposely film crew and 2. The galleys are not part of my ‘personal experience’ which would make it against most airlines photography policies. As for the toilet- I just rarely show it on LCCs. Thanks for watching 🩴
