I was a teenager on Auckland’s waitematā harbour that day of the leg 3 start. Total cray. I also met Connie in a customs queue in Sydney airport during their stopover. I stared, he winked. Stupefied & Star struck, I asked about the dent I’d noticed in the mast. Couldn’t believe him when he said it was the kite pole. Like whaaaa?
