Scuba Steve | AJ Ties a Killer Sculpin Pattern | Fly Tying Tutorial

Scuba Steve, is a sculpin pattern that was designed with a lot of swimming action with a larger wool head pushing water and weight in the rear of the fly to add a jackknife swimming motion. The weight also keels the fly to ride hook point up allowing you to fish a sinking line along the bottom with more confidence of less snags. Scuba Steve is a perfect three inch teardrop trout snack that swims saucy.

Without o rotary it looks like you would have to do a lot of hook flipping to tie this guy. Any tip or tricks for us non-rotary guys.

My .02 cents. You should only have to manipulate the orientation of the hook one time. Flip/invert the lure for tying on the marabou wing, wool collar and head. Take the lure out of the vise and clip to shape 1. Belly 2. Top 3. sides to shape. If you don't have curved scissors I would sweat it.
