After years of Bahamian.hooking with danforths I went to 44lb Bruce on my old Pearson Vanguard and was a serious convert for 10 plus years in coastal tidal waters of southwest Florida. 2 years ago I went to a more sporty Hunter 31 single hand live aboard and the Mantus M1 & M2. Once again a devoted convert. Though the Bruce never drug on me that may be to my old school 10 to 1 rode religion.

I went from a 25 lb Bruce to a 25 lb Mantus M2. The Bruce was a good anchor but the M2 is even better.

Happy new year Steve. I like ur videos. I dont find ur email so I try it here. Have u ever heard from the jambo anchor from Armin Schulze? In Germany and austria online boat communitys its like a "wonder anchor". There are sentences like: In the past I dive always to check the anchor, with the Jambo Anchor I dont do it because I know 100 % it holds. Perhaps u can check this anchor. If u need help to buy it, let me know. And there is a second thing. Is it possible to make comparison based at price? For example, the viking 15 12.6 kg) costs in germany 460 €, for 456 € I can also buy a 25 kg Lewmar Delta anchor. Or for about 300 € the 16 kg Lewmar Delta anchor. So what anchor u would buy ? Is a 12.6 kg viking stronger then the 25 kg lewmar?

Ahoy Steve, as a former municipal firefighter/EMT, I want to remind you of the many lives you've already saved just by improving anchor effectiveness. Throughout time, failed anchoring has killed many sailors and has caused injury and destruction. You'll never know who you saved and they'll never know that it was you who saved them!

I have a stainless Lewmar claw that is grossly oversized for my 24ft Cc that is often anchored overnight in hard sand, weeds sand and muck. I do not like the claw but it was the biggest anchchor I could fit on my bow roller and it does its job at the end of the day. (Actually end of the night.) I am going to take an angle grinder to it today and sharpen it and use it this summer. Would you like me to send it to you sharpened for testing? There are a terrific number people like myself that are stuck with these anchors and I suspect many of us would watch a video on how to "fix" a claw anchor. Thoughts? Thank you for all you do!

I have a genuine bruise, 11 pound anchor, approximately five years ago I sharpened the leading edge and smooth top, the anchor and spray-painted it with, and I falling number 33 spray paint. I am glad I did the setting period of time. It’s almost instant at least three or four times faster than it did before, it sets quick enough on my small 22 foot boat to jerk the ball down almost instantly.

Have you seen any anchors that at one weight have drastically difference performance relative to other anchors that is inconsistent at a different weight? Or comparing anchors of similar weights, the performance of a given anchor maintains it's performance?

Watch more of his videos. I don’t remember which, might’ve been number 100 but I believe he mentions noticing that some anchors performance don’t scale proportionally with weight in that video. I know this was demonstrated in some of his tests.
