Gota be in the late seventys & before Ricky died in that plane crash, of course, I can't remember when that happened, maybe it was in the early 80's.? You're not the only one. When I found out my younger self was cheated out of 5 chapters of each Nancy Drew when they updated to the yellow covers, I bought the originals from the 30s and 40s and read those. I may be in my 30s, but they're still entertaining! I liken them to an episode of a TV mystery. Light and entertaining, good clean fun.

I really like the opening sequence, the labyrinth and music is wonderful. I watched this as a kid and loved it. Always partial to Parker Stevenson myself, probably because Shaun Cassidy was everyone else's pick among my peers. I'm just contrary, I guess. I really like Pamela Sue Martin as Nancy Drew, they changed actresses later and I could never really enjoy Nancy Drew after that. Thank goodness the Hardy Boys stayed the same.

It is freaky that Ricky Nelson played this part and he himself died in a plane accident - the cabin of the plane caught fire and everyone died of smoke inhalation, the plane crashed shortly after everyone died.

Actually the pilot and co-pilot lived. They had to open the window to clear the smoke from their vision. That caused the fire to get worse but they were able to survive.

Was disappointed when this series came out because I was just a kid and was telling friends what it was about and it was all written for the times and not the 40's..
