I would recommand to get or make an easy to use remote controller for the camera for a number of reasons: - This way you cannot miss the shot if you failed to start recording before take off - It allows you to start and pause recording on demand, because you don't want to record everything from take off to landing. That makes editing really time-consuming and cumbersome. - No - or at least less - constraint on battery life. Most action cameras can record no more than an hour. If you go on a XC flight, then your camera simply wouldn't last long enough. Anyhow, I am glad Andre, that we can learn your experience with this chase cam. I wish you lots of pleasent recordings with it!

Can you attach a camera do a tip of the wing?
@bigsailboatproject5 жыл бұрын
That's great Andre! AT last eh? I made mine (a bit larger) and found that pulling the line under the wing and sitting it back a ways works great for launch. I also made a case for the cam with prongs to prevent "crashes" scratching up the lens

Great vid as usual. A tip though. I made about 30-40 flights or so with my Skybean chasecam and rather than pointing it upwards, shorten the line instead. The thing is that the chasecam otherwise ends up in the turbulence from the harness and tends to point in different directions every half second or so. Now, I see that you have the newer, shorter model, and it seems to be a bit steadier, but still... You don't want it in your turbulence, because then you need to stabilize the vid later on, and it gets cropped. I'm just about to edit some film from Öludeniz when I used it and got some epic shots. Have fun with it! I love mine! :-)

I have been toying with the idea of a chase cam, but haven't been convinced about the safety. The last thing you need when facing a collapse is to worry about yet another stuff to tangle into your lines. It happens once in a blue moon, but still...

What about safety? It looks like the rope is too short, so the camera can fly into lines. I tried a handmade shuttle of a plastic bottle, and attached its rope to a middle of a right C line. The length of the rope was comparable with the length of the line, so it always flied slightly below the harness. Pitily, the bottle shuttle was fluttering, so the quality of my video was poor. Maybe if I add longer tail, or some damper... Next time I'll do.

Andre, have you heard of the Open PPG X4? It seems right up your alley, it’s a DIY all electric folding carbon fiber paramotor. Check it out let us know your thoughts!
@AndreBandarra15 жыл бұрын
Yeah I like the idea but think I would like to learn how to fly normal paramotors first. Also in general all that is outside my budget so can't really afford one
@SkywalkerPaul5 жыл бұрын
Meanwhile a lot of people make DIY electric paramotors. It's relatively easy.
@ocphil27095 жыл бұрын
"Hey! We need one of these!" - Please, please, please never try a paramotor! But all in all a nice testvideo! Looking forward for more stuff like this!? Nevertheless my personal resolution as a beginner is: never fly with a camera. We have been to Denmark with a few friends last weekend and I made my first experience at the coast/dunes! It was nice and I really loved the smooth wind down at the beach! Makes groundhandling way easier. Looking forward to the next time! Kind regards!

Andre, tell them to buy extra fins for it. Mine destroyed all fins on first flight. Not yours! Another brand from Europa, possibly Russkieville...but it is advisable to buy extra fins or whatever you want to call them. No offense Andre! I'm sure your product is superior to the too rigid crap I bought.....or your name wouldn't be Bad Ass Bandarra!
