Has anyone ever noticed that the DC6 only has engine exhaust stacks on the outboard side of the engine nacelle's, why? because Douglas didn't want passengers setting there staring at the flames coming out of the engines during night flights. Just a little DC6 trivia.
@bradleypeterson22086 жыл бұрын
Its a shame, because the flames looks super cool at night.

Maybe they decided this design in order to avoid fire risk concerns among the passengers

@@99carnot Golden age of propeller-driven aircraft, which did not grow larger because of the 707 jet arrival. Anyway it's really interesting to notice the technical prop evolution from a single cylinder row towards larger engines such as the Wasp Major; from conventional engines fueling towards supercharged engines able to fly higher and so on.

This DC 6 is probably better maintained than airline fleets. Compared to other flying DC6s, this one sounds like a real hot rod (different type of exhausts maybe?)

The DC-6 that Red Bull has, belonged a time ago to Jugaslavian president Tito. So that this plane never saw a comercial use, and it has a great history.

When I was young, Me and my family saw the Douglas DC-6 from Europe taking off from Singapore Changi Airport, viewed from the food centre which is beside the airfield. The DC-6 is a rare airplane which is built in 1946.

Klasse Aufnahmen, richtig schön nah, bis ins Detail!! Super gut. Wie weit ist die Entfernung real? Mit Leiter am Zaun? Gruss DrDuu
@ShipsYouShouldKnow9 жыл бұрын

Did you also get to fly in the DC6B that they own? Daniel Frohriep-Ichihara (same as his channel) also got to, and it's featured in his channel. It was uploaded a couple weeks ago. Check it out.
@heatherstub7 жыл бұрын
Love the sound of that plane! Lots of power. It sounds like it may have more power than the DC6B, but perhaps that's because I heard it from the outside. There's another channel here that flew the DC6B. His name is Daniel Frohriep-Ichihara, and he's building quite a nice collection of amazing videos featuring classic aviation from East and West. Check him out. I used to fly the DC7B back in 1969 and 1970 when we flew from Miami to the Bahamas to see my father's parents from England. They lived there for several years before flying back to the UK in 1973. We visited them there in 1975 and 1976. Those were unforgetable trips. My family lived in France for two years, because my father took a job in Paris to work at the CIP at the Place de Concorde de la Fayette. I didn't want to come back here, but I had no choice. If I had had a choice, I'd probably still be there today. I loved it that much.

Actually, Boeing doesn't own any of these planes. There are old Douglas Aircraft airplanes, and they're owned by the company that makes Red Bull. And they do. Check out Daniel Frohriep-Ichihara's channel. There, you'll see one video he uploaded a couple weeks ago where he had the privellege to fly aboard the DC6B for an hour plus. It is a fantastic video! He's also got tons of videos of classic "aviation heaven" as he calls it. I certainly agree. Enjoy!
