To avoid the same mistake I did, I suggest making sure your civilization is prepared to manage and survive on its own while you're on the moon. Make sure every important building is in the radius of an engineers hut and a fire station so they don't collapse, fill up lakes you are harvesting water from, make sure your civilization is able to gather enough water and food to sustain itself (Don't put too many garrison’s because the nuggets might hunt animals to extinction, I recommend farms that grow Bloody Diarrhea Fruit along with a couple eateries), place enough parks to stop pollution(if not enough parks are placed, your civilization will collapse due to pollution at some point), and put every manager in the town hall so the nuggets can manage a couple problems on their own while you’re gone. (You can always return to mother planet) Things that I suggest for taking to the moon along with the required buildings are an eatery and maybe a farm or cemetery. But before you go to the moon I recommend building a cosmodrome first. It will be very helpful because you can order items from your city on another planet in case you need it.

To be fair, the production of resources in the game is hilariously slow. Not to mention most late game production buildings take up so much space but there's no option to change the terrain. That means if you get a shitty planet with mountains and hills and there's not enough flat land, good luck to you. Fun! Edit: Also there's no option to modify the roads. I've had numerous instances where modern road simply glitch out or fail to spawn. Meaning goods are transported much slower. The game punishes you for sprawl even though the game pushes you transform your settlements into a sprawl. Fun x2!

Personally I like packaging buildings into builder bots rather then sending the materials. It’s more expensive but saves you a ton of time
