Welcome to another video! Today I'll be flying onboard Delta's Boeing 737-900ER from Portland, Maine and Atlanta, Georgia. This is a rather unique domestic route for Delta as it only operates once per day. Portland, Maine is located about 100 miles north of Boston, Massachusetts and is a popular summer vacation destination. While it isn't considered a Boston area airport, it can be a great option for travelers looking to save money. Regional airports often have fewer flights and less demand which means fares can often be found at lower prices. PWM is my home airport. Very limited flights in and out, so if you hit a delay, you’re stuck. Carriers trimming flights to two per day in and out of this airport and tight makes business travel difficult.

I love Maine so much, especially Portland. I’ve never flown delta but I am about to in their domestic first class and I can’t wait! Great trip report!

Portland has a really nice airport for a city of its size. Born and brought up in Portland/South Portland. Planes coming in flew right over our house (1960's & 1970's). One night laying in my bed on the second floor, I thought a plane was going to come right through my window it was so close. At some point, they changed the landing configuration and planes started coming in over the harbor, following the Fore River.

I'm now flying Amsterdam to Tampa two or three times a year, so I generally get to choose between Delta and KLM with a layover in either Atlanta or Detroit. From personal experience, I'd say that the service on Delta intercontinental flights is way better than for their domestic flights. My only complaint would be that Delta doesn't offer a lactose-intolerant food option on their intercontinental flights like KLM does. I.e. on Delta flights I'll often skip the main meal, just to be on the safe side 🙂

Great use of 2 of Maine’s biggest public transportation systems, the downeastern and PMW of both I am very familiar with. Planes from the Jetport fly over my house all the time and if I get to see the many medium sized planes. Flying to Portland during night is hard though, a lot of late flights will get cancelled, found that out after landing in jfk from London but other then that it’s not too bad.

Their are more flights flying out of Portland Maine then Bangor maine
