What is the evac plan for landing in water?. I presume there is recommended plans for such eventualities? Maybe an idea for a future camp side chat?.
@trev.lee.adventure4 ай бұрын
Generally when over water I fly fairly high. With no engine I would lose around 850 feet per minute so I work on 1000 per minute. So if i'm at 4000 feet I have 4 minutes to make a mayday call giving my position and how many people on board. I would position for an into wind landing on the water as slow as I can fly and as close to land or a boat as possible. During the last minute I would unplug anything that might stop me getting out of the aircraft and make sure my seat belt buckle is clear and I can get to it once stopped. Once stopped I will ditch my helmet undo my seat belt and get clear of the aircraft before inflating my life vest and activating my PLB (self inflating life vests are not advised). I run this scenario through my head and visualize it regularly. I am also a technical mixed gas diver. My mindset has been developed from diving. Panicking is not in the rule book. IT JUST WASTES TIME!!

@@trev.lee.adventure Solid plan and I like the methodology crossover from your diving experience. Hopefully it will never come to this but like you describe at least you will have options.
