We like to think we see some special sightings on safari, and we do, but this is one of those crazy sightings you could never dream of seeing!
Cruising the waterways of the Panatanal, some very lucky guests found a Jaguar out on the hunt, and he came across a Marsh Deer - quite an unusual prey for the Jaguars of the Panatanal. A bit of an improvised hunting strategy was all that was needed to catch this unlucky Marsh Deer by surprise.
Well done to Edno Moraes and thanks for sharing this incredible footage!

Sounds like a joke setup? If not, it is because of competition.

The Jaguar (Jaguarius onca) is a big cat native primarily to South America, it is one of the only three living big cat species found in the New World, the others are the Puma (Puma concolor) and the Jaguarundi (Herpailurus yagouaroundi), it is the only extant species of the genus Jaguarius (New World Roaring Cats), which originated from North America and was more diverse while first appearing in the Early Pleistocene, the genus also has two other recognized species being the extinct American Lion (Jaguarius atrox) and the Yucatan Leopard (Jaguarius balamoides), this genus is in fact most closely related to the bohebaos (genus Neofelis), to which the new world roaring cats (genus Jaguarius) shared a more recent common ancestor with during the early Pleistocene in Eastern Asia, the jaguar originated exclusively from North America and there are four recognized subspecies of jaguar, the most basal of the four jaguar subspecies is the North American Jaguar (Jaguarius onca angustus), then followed by the Central American Jaguar (Jaguarius onca centralis), with the most recent split being between the Amazon Jaguar (Jaguarius onca onca) and the Andean Jaguar (Jaguarius onca peruvianus).

Its scientific name is Panthera Onca not Jaguarius Onca.

@gabriellima7900, actually, the Panthera genus is paraphyletic, it is now redefined as an exclusively Old World genus with an exclusively African origin and only five valid species, the most basal of the Panthera genus is the †Royal Cat (Panthera principialis), followed by the †African Jaguar (Panthera shawi), and then followed by the Leopard (Panthera pardus), with the most recent split being between the †European Jaguar (Panthera gombaszoegensis) and the Lion (Panthera leo), Panthera is the most basal extant genus of the subtribe Pantherina (Greater Big Cats), the second most basal is the genus Uncia, which contains four recognized species, the most basal being the †Cave Lion (Uncia spelaea), followed by the Tiger (Uncia tigris), with the most recent split being between the †Tibetan Jaguar (Uncia blytheae) and the Ounce (Uncia uncia), the third most basal genus is †Sinailurus, which contains three recognized species, the most basal being the †East Asian Lion (Sinailurus youngi), followed by the split between the †Longdan Tiger (Sinailurus zdanskyi) and the †Chinese Jaguar (Sinailurus palaeosinensis), the two most derived genera of the subtribe are Neofelis (Bohebaos) and Jaguarius (New World Roaring Cats), the former contains two recognized species: the Northern Bohebao (Neofelis nebulosa) and the Southern Bohebao (Neofelis diardi), whereas the latter contains three recognized species, the most basal being the †American Lion (Jaguarius atrox), followed by the split between the †Yucatan Leopard (Jaguarius balamoides) and the Jaguar (Jaguarius onca), based on this phylogeny, the †Cave Lion (Uncia spelaea), Tiger (Uncia tigris), †Tibetan Jaguar (Uncia blytheae), Ounce (Uncia uncia), †East Asian Lion (Sinailurus youngi), †Longdan Tiger (Sinailurus zdanskyi), †Chinese Jaguar (Sinailurus palaeosinensis), †American Lion (Jaguarius atrox), †Yucatan Leopard (Jaguarius balamoides), and Jaguar (Jaguarius onca) are all more closely related to bohebaos (genus Neofelis) than any of them are to either the †Royal Cat (Panthera principialis), †African Jaguar (Panthera shawi), Leopard (Panthera pardus), †European Jaguar (Panthera gombaszoegensis), or Lion (Panthera leo), just like the Tibetan Fox (Neocyon ferrilatus), Corsac Fox (Alopex corsac), Arctic Fox (Alopex lagopus), Swift Fox (Alopex velox), Kit Fox (Alopex macrotis), Bengal Fox (Fennecus bengalensis), Blanford's Fox (Fennecus canus), Ruppell's Fox (Fennecus rueppellii), Fennec Fox (Fennecus zerda), Pale Fox (Fennecus pallidus), and Cape Fox (Fennecus chama) are all more closely related to both the Bat-Eared Fox (Otocyon megalotis) and the Raccoon Dogs (genus Nyctereutes) than any of them are to the Red Foxes (genus Vulpes) and Asiatic Elephants (genus Elephas) are more closely related to †Mammoths (genus Mammuthus) than they are to African Elephants (genus Loxodonta).
