Explain what you mean by side chaining instruments (drum to bass) together.
@BeatsbyVanity
@BeatsbyVanity 9 жыл бұрын
+TheHotFalafel Yes, I should have explained this in the video actually: So side chaining or side chain compressor is pretty similar to your ordinary compression the only difference is side chain compression uses another signal other than the main input to control the amount of compression. If for example we wanted to side chain a kick drum to our baseline we would do this via placing a compressor plugin on the baseline channel, so long as the compressor had a side chain input we could select the kick drum on the compressor and change the amount of side chain compression being applied via the controls on the plugin. In this example, every-time the kick drum plays or sounds, the baseline will dip in volume, allowing the kick drum to pass through without interfering with the bass or vice versa. Imagine a gate, when the baseline is playing the gate is closed but when the kick drum plays the gate will open and close again once that kick drum has played its duration. This process then repeats for every kick drum in your record. I hope that helps! Thank you for stopping by too!

BeatsbyVanityTV oh sweet, I just stayed in the venue after everyone left, and he came up to pack away his stuff. Then I kept calling him to come down until he did, and I shook his hand. And I'm sure in that handshake he passed some of his production magic into me

Hi did you mean to say sidechain kick to the bass or did you mean sidechain your bass to move out of way of kick? Sorru new to sidechaining.. I could see in this type of hiphop the kick moving away from bass may be a tool as well though
@BeatsbyVanity

Yeah you're right with the later, sidechain the bass to move out of the way of the kick.
