It is the second largest of the Canary Islands after Tenerife and is situated to the east of the other islands in the group. Fuerteventura is known for its long stretches of sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, and warm weather, which make it a popular destination for tourists looking to soak up the sun and enjoy water sports like surfing, windsurfing, and kitesurfing. The island's landscape is dominated by volcanic mountains and hills, with a desert-like terrain in some areas.
