I got to fly as a pax in a C-2 from Kunsan Air Base (Korea) to the USS Kitty Hawk back in 1994. Spent the day observing carrier ops. At the time, we were fighting (DACT) against the carrier's F-14s and F-18s. What an unforgettable day. Great video, as usual.

Loved the video, I have messaged Rob on his KZbin as I work in the military Post Office at RAF Lakenheath. Every so often I send out parcels to aircraft carriers, it was nice to know that sometimes he would be carrying 'one of my parcels', anyway great guy.

My Dad was a 30 year "Lifer" in The USAF as a Pilot and Officer. A couple of years ago I happened upon Rob's channel and was hooked immediately with his videos and of course his wonderful verbal essays as the video rolled! I did tell him the story of me and my siblings asking Dad years after he retired if he ever wanted to land on an aircraft carrier? He instantly laughed from deep in his gut and frankly stated that he felt more comfortable landing on a Freeway instead of a floating long rug! Rob told me that is the reason why Navy Flyers wear Gold Wings and USAF Pilots wear Silver Wings LOLOL! I enjoyed this interview between you two and I'll be back to see what you in the future and check out your video library! Cheers From Columbus, Ohio

Agreed that the V22 may not be the best carrier resupply vehicle. It does give a little more versatility. Buy having to vertical land/takeoff has a clear penalty.

I've had fun watching the Greyhounds from the Harry S Truman, flying overhead, as they've been coming in off the North Sea on their way to Prestwick late October / Early November.

We spent so much time balancing props in the late '60s, was an ADJ from '67 to '69. As you probably know we lost a couple, 26 passengers. And their names are not on the wall!!! That's some. BS! Once we lost contact with one plane, we watched and waited on the flight line (NAS Cubi Pt, Phillipines). Finally spotted the aircraft and it appeared to have feathered one prop, as it got closer we saw that it had lost the entire prop and a large tear was in the side about 4 or 5 feet up and down. NAS Atsugi, Japan was home base. Cubi Pt - two 12 hour shifts 6 days a week. Anyhow, alot of work, alot of play. Was there when the Forrestal caught fire, squadron received a unit citation for the help. Carrier quals an eye opener.I babble on. Many stories.

I was a COD aircrewman for 10 years in the 90’s at VRC-40 and VAW-120. I ended up getting commissioned and sent to P-3’s and then T-6’s as an instructor, and the COD was the absolute best aircraft in the Navy! Hands down.

I retired from the Navy about a quarter of a century ago. Most of my enlistment was assigned to aircraft carriers and the squadrons that were assigned to them. I found it very informative to listen to Officer Roy speak of wives and then correct that to "spouse". It was not legal to to have any "gay" relationships when I was in the Navy. It was just called section 4 back then. ( Part of the Uniform code of military justice.) At many points he was careful to add the female to his statements. In my day, there were few waves and none of them involved in war ships. So it was just odd to hear him distinguish two kinds of sailors the way he did. Times have changed.

Always enjoyed your RobRoy vids. Never seen the top half of your head before! Not too scary but you should wear your helmet at all times like the Lone Ranger wears a mask. Hi ho.

Rob spoke about the c2 being more desirable among his classmates than the e2. Was that preference just there by his particular class? Why is the e2 a less desirable aircraft to fly?
@flyrobroy2 күн бұрын
Great question! It's mostly because we made more money on deployment as C-2 pilots by earning per diem, as well as having the luxury of flying off the carrier mostly every night. Our job was to pick up passengers and cargo from the shore and take it to the carrier, so we were always landing in different countries, whereas the E-2 pilots are stuck on the carrier for the entire deployment.
