Going to try this with the mini 3 pro and get a direct usb c connection with the headset and controller to see if it has the same issues. Great video man keep on doing your thing!

Can you use a USB cable to connect the controller of a DJI Mini 2 to the Quest? Maybe the lag will be less then.

Loved the video, well done! A question for you since seem to be quite experienced. I have one of the Neo drones, and have set it up to run on the Quest 3 by side loading the DJI Fly app. Works well at a basic level. I’m stuck though at a point where it needs me to update the FlySafe data on the app. To do that, the app needs to be connected to both the drone, and the internet. On a phone that works fine since it uses Wifi for the drone and cellular for internet. But the Quest only has wifi. Any thoughts on how to get the FlySafe data updated? Without doing that, the app limits the flight capabilities of the drone.

Hi!! How's the Neo? I was looking at it to replace my Spark. With your issue, could you put a mobile device into hot-spot mode and connect your Mets Quest to that WiFi hot-spot?

This is a great proof of concept. I have a DJI mavic air, and I want to test it using an usb-c cable. That would be pretty amazing. One of the greater limitations always reported by droners is the screen size. People even used large iPads before, because of screen size! This could be a neat solution! Maybe have one gigantic screen at your will. I hope this will work better soon!

Seems like it'd be a neat idea to get virtual desktop and have the DJI stream back through a laptop. Latency through VirtualDesktop can be as low as 20-30ms. Not sure what the time for DJI back to laptop would be like though? I don't have one so I can't test. Obviously having a laptop, and possibly needing a router wouldn't be ideal, as you'd have to pack all that extra crap, but its an option?

Tried with DJI Neo and the RCN1 controller. But the controller won't work with the Quest 3!! You got a setup yourself?

@husondiy not yet. I have the drone but needs Lil bit of tlc, fell from about 30 ft and has some sensor and gamble problems. It may not be worth repairing it , Mavic air. Looking at possibly getting a new one. With similar properties. Cool vids man !!

I just tried this with my Spark and it worked without a lag. I wasn't recording inside the Meta Quest, and I am guessing that it why I didn't have the lag.

Think you're gonna look silly - I'll have to hook up my integra goggles to the VR via usb - ha already look like a nutter in the park. App working but app complaining about remote not connected. Issue as I'm using dji cadex / 03 air units on non dji drones. Fab though. Post updates.

I guess the problem is that the app window in Quest will get out of view at some point. I don't know if there is a way to change thar behavior.

The window can be moved and with hand tracking that should be easy enough

If you use Quest 3 hand-tracking, it will be easier to handle the DJI controller without needing to switch.

I believe that the whole idea of meta 3 is that you don't need a physical thing. You just conjure up a drone and you fly it. There is no need for all that complication of having an acutal physical clunky, fragile, finicky machine. Dude. You literally have a meta that allows you to be unbound by physical limitations. Dude just fly a virtual drone, dude. You are using the meta all wrong and you don't understand the virtual world. Gosh. That is like have an information superhighway, but you drive on it with a horse and buggy amish style. Be free, dude. be in the 21st century, dude. you are doing legacy stuff. That is not what meta is, dude. Do you still use the telegram when you have a cell phone? NO. So, don't fly physical drone when you have much better drone in the virtual world, dude. You can fly an f-16, but you choose to fly a spark. LOL. oh my. dude you don't get the meta world.

I get where you're coming from, but I use my drone for photography and filming certain shots. It was simply a way to experiment to see if I can use the Meta Quest 3 with the DJI. Also, to counter your argument a little. Pass through is being heavily invested in on the Meta devices, therefore the use for pass through purposes will be as important as virtual reality going forward. Thanks for your comment though, dude 😉
