As someone who was stationed on an Aircraft Carrier...me thinks I might have to buy one and set it up like this! I always dreamt of flying an F-14 Tomcat, watching them taking off, bringing up the ordnance for them, and watching them land will always be some of my favorite memories of my time in the NAVY!!!

I will allow myself to disagree. I far prefer the final livery, which was the stealth matt grey with black writing and decals. That to me looked much more "sinister". That was what I used on my Flight Sim Tomcat.

Taking out front plastic of the canopy makes it look nice and also gives a clear FPV view. I'm just wondering how draggy it becomes ? Me and buddy talked about this several years ago and concluded (within us) unless there's an exit hole at the back of the canopy, drag increases initially but stops increasing very soon as area is already filled. Any thoughts on this ? BTW, I do same thing with WTFOS and it really opens up what you can see.

I dont know if this works on RC canopies, but in scale models of fighter planes you can use Future Floor Wax or some other equivalents or polishing compounds to get canopy crystal clear. Would be cool if it makes enough of a difference to clear up the the thru canopy view for the FPV camera.

Amazing model. Made one back in the early 80’s. Interesting comments about being so close to the Grumman production facilities. Did you work there? I loved the comparison to the Warthog A10 being winey compared to the F14 whoosh. My step-dad was called Tom. He bought me a model boat and took me to the town park every Sunday morning to sail it until I lost interest. I would have loved a RC plane. I asked my Mum but it was too expensive. I made a Flying Boat and a Spitfire but like all novelties I moved on to explore the world around me.

Wow.. I think you might be onto something here.. Combine this with those crazy accurate cockpits.. There could be some crazy looking realistic stuff. Maybe just take the canopy plastic/glass out, maybe thin down the pillars though they might be accurate your eye wouldn't "see" them as much or the camera makes them more viable.. I really think this could become really interesting. 3rd edit.. The F-14 is just the sexiest aircraft ever.. I just don't think, in my mind, they could ever design a plane that looks so perfect again. I grew up in the 80's with Robotech, GoBots, and Transformers. The F-14 is just chefs kiss and your model looks sexy. Starscream and F-15 a distant second.
