As far as I understood, you had him pitching for the runway, sort of disregarding the speed ( I heard you say you were 20 knots fast? ). You then scrubbed the speed when extending the glide over the runway. Is this a technique used for training only? Where you focus on approach and alignment rather than 100% correct configuration. Or this is something you actually use, maybe on longer runways? Thanks for the video!

Yes.. pitch for the aim point. We are not disregarding speed. We are allowing pitch to bring us to the aim point and we are configuring and powering to slow the aircraft. Speed is controlled with power and configuration, not pitch. If he was fast, this is encouragement to add flaps then reduce power. Approach and alignment are also necessary. This is the reason for proper pitch, power and configuration. Techniques practiced in training are precisely used for flying. These techniques will help the pilot focus on arriving at the threshold on speed, having slowed with configuration and power.. same way each and every time. I hope this explanation helps..
