Hey everyone! In this video, I depart the Pensacola Class C airport during a cross country flight to Defuniak Springs, FL. The Gulf Coast is busy airspace, with NAS Pensacola, Whiting Field, Hurlburt Field, and Eglin Air Force Base all in the area, as well as several MOAs and restricted areas. On this flight, I had to navigate restricted airspace as I transitioned into Eglin Air Force Base's airspace and eventually to Defuniak Springs' CTAF. This was a fun flight, as it was a new route to a new airport I have never visited. Hope you enjoy!

@@StingrayAlex absolutely I will defiantly be watching more. I’m 6 hours into flight training so anything to just watch procedures is great.

@@emaneasler oh that’s awesome, good luck! I try to keep as much of the flight in the videos as possible, so I can keep them quick and fun but also somewhat educational. Lmk if there’s anything you’d want to see!

@@emaneasler you got it! I typically do my cross country flights to non towered airports so I’ll try and mix more of those in!

I love videos like this! I do a lot of cross country countries just like the one you’re doing, to build hours for my IFR rating. These are some of the best flights for sure. Fly well!

Hi Russ! Thats exactly what I’m doing lol figure while I rent the Piper and fly around Florida, might as well be productive and build some hours for my IFR rating. Cross country flights are fun to explore and land at new airports!

Thanks for the comment! Awesome to hear, 290 is a great little plane, definitely my favorite of the flight school fleet. Enjoy your training and good luck on your check ride! I did mine last October, was one of the most stressful days of my life but so rewarding when you pass.

decided to finally close the window, eh? Should be honest - it's helpful for you and for other pilots to recognize their mistakes and talk about them. It's on the checklist -- fly safe.

Thanks for the comment. I rent from the local flight school and they provide several checklists for the Piper Warrior and closing the window isn’t on any of them. In fact, last summer when I was getting my license and flying with my instructor, we’d often leave the little window open for extra air when it’s 90+ degrees in Florida. I’d love to hear your concerns over keeping the window open during flight. Always trying to learn. Thanks!

Cross country?
@StingrayAlex
@StingrayAlex 11 күн бұрын
Hi there! Yes, the FAA defines flying cross country as a flight that “…includes a point of landing that was at least a straight-line distance of more than 50 nautical miles from the original point of departure.” KPNS and 54J are 56 nm apart.
