Haha, I know this area well. Between Springfield and Johnson Kansas there's some relatively interesting topography, and also just north of Scott City Kansas is a state park with a lake and some interesting scenery.

@@kalvinwinder I feel compelled to add, Liberal, Kansas has a very respectable air museum with a legit air show every year, and the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson is quite a lot further east, but it's a Smithsonian quality experience and definitely worth the effort; they have an SR-71 on permanent display.
