United has had a rather strange past decade, with plenty of controversy in 2017 after they mishandled a passenger on a U.S. domestic flight. Seemingly, United has improved since then by leaps and bounds. But by how much? Are there any hesitations that anyone should have with United, especially on a long-haul flight? This will be my first-time ever on a U.S. carrier, and my expectations are low.
Join me on a 15 hour ride across the Pacific, from Singapore to San Francisco, on one of United Airlines’ longest routes in the world. Is United worth the try? Watch this video to find out!

In the future -- for every Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft of all airlines (including United Airlines) parked at the gate with 2 jetbridges --, the gate MUST ALWAYS use BOTH jetbridges for passenger loading and unloading to ease the passenger traffic for both boarding and deplaning processes.

Getting 300ml bottles of water throughout the flight is good though. On Korean, you only get a few sips from a 1.5oz cup only by summoning an attendant.

What kind of nonsense is this? You get a water bottle at every seat when you enter the plane on Korean.

I've watched so many landing at SFO videos and I can guarantee you that this is the FIRST time I've ever seen an approach into that runway. Wow the weather must've been brutally bad for them to do that

I'm based out of SFO and I've landed on the 19's several times. The weather doesn't necessarily have to be bad for this to happen. Usually a low pressure system bringing winds from the south will be enough to change up ops resulting in landings and takeoffs from the 19's.

I thought you would have enjoyed the Illy coffee served onboard very much. I am also pretty sure you only would have needed to ask for milk, if milk is what you wanted. Should be no limit on beverages you ask for! Very nice video and trip. Safe and happy travels!

Great video & a very fair review. Before the events of 911 LAX did not require transit passengers to go through immigration. For example if you were flying with United from Australia or New Zealand & going on to London, the United staff would escort passengers to a tiny transit lounge which had nice seating & toilets etc. When it was time for the LAX-LHR flight a United staff member would lead you through a maze of passages, unlock a door, & you'd be in the departure lounge for the LAX to London flight. All extremely convenient!

Just an FYI, the crew don’t clean lavatories unless they absolutely have to (as in there would be no more toilets available if they didn’t).

31" seat pitch in Economy. Oof! When flying US to Asia, I always fly Asian carriers where you get 3" to 4" more inches of seat pitch.

Due to health concern, Singapore Airlines will not issue Salt and Pepper during meal service, you can still request and they will promptly deliver to you. This has nothing to do with an Airline having World Class or not. Strange comparison.

What health issue comes with providing salt and pepper sachets on the meal tray? Not providing them upfront is cost cutting, pure and simple.

I used to hate United because of my own horrid experiences with 'em !! Back in the 80's/ 90's & I even told the flight attendants that straight face to face that their attitudes sucked & there was no " service " at all !! Lol. But,lately people have been mentioning on youtube & youtube videos that they have improved a lot !!? To my surprise, the American airlines is chosen to be worst amongth those 3 biggest American companies ! The 2nd worst is United .Then,Delta. I am rethinking / reconsidering of using United when I'll fly to Buenos Aires with mom in the near future !!! Not sure when,yet. 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶✈️💞

Hey! Yeah think they are certainly getting better but let's see how long it will last. I think they are still worth a bet if they're considerably cheaper than other airlines (I don't know the routes in South America). Also these days United are using newer planes with fresher cabins, this 787's economy seating is actually up there with other airlines such as Air Canada. If I had to I'd take United again, I think they're reliable.

@dexplorer_vids Hey ! Lol. Thanks so much for this video & your reply ! That's very good to know that they are spending more money & making efforts to keep their aircrafts fresher/ newer !! 👍👍No one really wanna be in a beat up looking plane ! That'll make me nervous which had happened to me in the 80's with British airways & Malaysia airlines !! I thought United airlines was the cheapest ,too ! They were ,though !( amongst big 3 of American companies.)But,for the Argentina route ,American airlines is way more affordable when it comes to premium economy when googling !! About $3,000 vs almost $5,000 !! When I did Google a couple of days ago !! 😅 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶✈️💞

Nice video mate! Yeah I agree w u, where was the milk for your oreos! Lol. Was the coffee ok? I wish UAL provided more substance in its meal service. I would love to choose a foreign carrier but I'm stuck with UAL especially traveling between Guam, a US Territory and the US mainland, US citizens are bounded to using US-based airlines due to an outdated and old law that exists, called the cabotage law aka Jones which when passed in the early 1920, to protect US maritime carriers from Foreign competitors, US citizens are forced to use a US based airline between US destinations. Sadly we can't choose a foreign carrier unless we make separate bookings with a layover in the connecting city. IMO laws need to be changed. Do you think the 787 is quieter than the A350?

Oh that's interesting, thanks for sharing. Sounds like they really killed options for travel! Coffee's ok but like you I definitely was expecting a little bit more. Definitely the Airbus A350, it's a much more comfortable aircraft.

The Jones Act applies to shipping, not airlines. No country allows airlines they don't regulate domestically to fly domestic flights with the main exception of the Schengen zone, where airline regulation is supranational. But this is because foreign airlines' authorization comes from treaties to fly international routes, not because there's a single statute banning them as there is for ships
@devonsanchez8292
@devonsanchez8292 11 ай бұрын
@markcornelius5291 wait, so then why do foreign airlines deny US citizens the ability to fly their carrier if departing and arriving on a US destination? There was an example I read where the cabotage law prevented a US citizen from flying on Korean Air from HNL to GUM via ICN. The airline explained the cabotage law and cited the Jones Act. The traveller stated he had to fly a US carrier, in this case Hawaiian Airlines to leave HNL to ICN and then can transfer to a foreign airline from ICN to GUM, in that example, it was Jeju Airlines.

@markcorneliuslau 11 ай бұрын
@@devonsanchez8292 you can’t fly a foreign airline for a point-to-point domestic route because they’re not authorized to do that in the air transport agreement giving them the right to fly to/from the U.S. just as U.S. carriers aren’t allowed to do in other national air markets That they cited the Jones Act is really weird because it is about maritime shipping (though it is also bad)

Would only fly when the price is right. Food is mediocre and seat is average only. Would rather go for a EVA air premium economy seat for about twice the price only. If not the next best option is Singapore Airlines economy. As lacklustre as it has been, it is still better than this. It’s more bang for your buck.
