Got a chance to do some XC with Wolfgang Siess on his summer tour.
Tough getting up at the butte. I got low near Mansfield and lost Wolfi and Aaron. Thought they crossed and I would catch them on the other side. Turns out they turned at Sims and headed back for an out and return. I was hoping to fly home. Day ended abruptly. Really fun time!

As many mentioned, great video! You make the sport look stylish, relaxing and safe - exactly what we need to draw more ppl into it! That's why PGs are so popular imo

Hi, Glad you enjoyed it. I love flying. Glad to help spread how much fun it is. It defiantly needs more exposure. A lot of people take the path of least resistance anymore. Leaves them missing out! Best of air to you!

Man you really made that T3 look like a honey to fly. I let out the "argh" with the committed 360 into the sneaky hole. Sometimes its just bloody disappears. Looks like great country to fly. Might have to come visit sometime.

It truly is a very nice and easy handling glider. My best, most favorite flex wing to date! Arrgh, yeah me too! (and some other words) I got dumped! It was very small tight thermals around launch. It really is a great area to fly. The endless LZ's really make pushing XC less stressful. Thanks for watching

We are fast approaching the 50th anniversary of Chelan (Paul) Denny making the first ever hang glider flight from the Chelan Butte. The gliders, equipment, technology and performance have evolved tremendously since the early 1970's, Chelan Butte continues to be the premier soaring site in Washington... the dream of flight remains the same.

Man, can't wait to get a T3. I'm a H2 so I'm getting there. That was a pretty punchy thermal you found. Beautiful flight and the music went so well with the flight. The closing music! Dang haven't heard those beats in years! 👍

@@BariFPV again congratulations. I started out PG also. Couple of years. One of which seemed like I was blown out everyday day, switched to hang gliding. I do both, but mainly hang glide. One thing you can always count on, is the weather to not cooperate 🤯 fingers crossed you get some air time soon, we're in the same boat over here.

Wolfis awesome, just found your channel. I have dreamed of doing this since I was child. They just never were made safe enough for me to try but now with the gear available this is finally something I can do. I'm going for my training this summer and my goal is to start with the double surface glider like the T2C. Everyone says start with the single surface but not everyone has my pocket or my money and if I'm going to do it then at 42 years old I'll need one lightly used T2 and then replace any worn parts. If I was even 10 years younger I would start with a single surface but time is not on my side. I am going to sub I enjoyed your video with the editing and music to. Well done thank you
@MikeBomstad
@MikeBomstad 3 жыл бұрын
Ha! I guessing you are kidding about starting on a T2. If not, learning will not be much fun and will make use of your pocket book. (people dont start with a single surface for the cost, its for the ease of learning) Glad you enjoyed the video, more to come soon!
@paulmobleyscience
@paulmobleyscience 3 жыл бұрын
@@MikeBomstad Actually no I'm not kidding at all. Think about this....those that first started HG did they have an instructor or all this lighter, safer, better designed equipment along with parachutes designed specifically for HG? No they had home made gliders that weren't precision made to keep the shape, they didn't have youtube and others like you sharing information. They just went and did it and I see this everywhere as if its impossible to begin ones HG career on a double surface glider. The trick at that point isn't flying the craft its reading the conditions and where to grab thermals. Its more of picking the right days, conditions, take-off and landings and all that is gained with experience no matter if the craft is single or double surface. With todays gliders and not being a complete incompetent moron then I have to disagree with you. It is definitely not out of the question and now you've just given me the fire I needed to prove that notion completely wrong. Once my training is done I will never own a single surface king pole glider and will be this exact glider that I will purchase.

Hey Mike what tools do you use to determine the wind direction in your landing field on a XC flight such as this..
@MikeBomstad
@MikeBomstad 3 жыл бұрын
On this landing I went with the wind had been light from the S and SW. Also I had a nice up hill to land. There was zero wind when I landed where I did. At 9:44 you can see a tractor kicking up some dust. It was late in the day and had a good idea it was not a thermal pulling the dust. I carry these drop streamers and a paint ball smoke grenade for days when I really cant tell photos.app.goo.gl/W8GEcyfHuk1LXNC2A

Fantastic story told. What a fun video to watch! Is that easterly launch shallow? It looked a bit tricky. Were you in radio communication with the others or only with your chase specialist extraordinaire? Nice you went ahead and flew half way home.
@MikeBomstad
@MikeBomstad 3 жыл бұрын
That was the S launch called "between the rocks" Its steeper than Tekoa's launch. Hot and light wind can be tricky. Run hard, have extra speed. On this day it was just with my "chase specialist extraordinaire" on the radio. That's why I didn't know they turned back for an out and return. I would have kept going anyway :-) Had they known I had gotten back up and was going to cross they would have to. They didnt have a driver
