Mourning a loss while looking ahead to plenty of big changes in the future. At the moment, I felt the timing of that release couldn't have been more perfect. Flying Lotus and Shinichiro Watanabe’s creative kinship was cultivated while working on BLADE RUNNER: BLACK OUT 2020, the mutual respect led to them collaborating on this video. Watanabe had this to say about their connection - “Flying Lotus’ sound and Anderson Paak’s rap on this track are just incredible. Their work greatly inspired me to direct this music video for them with some of the finest anime talents in Japan. Flying Lotus is such an amazing talent, so it is a great honor to work with Flying Lotus again after our first collaboration on BLADE RUNNER: BLACK OUT 2022. We like working with each other so much that we are already collaborating on another series project of mine called CAROLE & TUESDAY. "Your Ego is your seed" The more times I watch & listen to it, the more I'm understanding. 1. "Gotta be more to life than myself", "That's when I caught light of myself. The entire hook explains itself. 3. This video & song is DOPE!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!

Your soul is like a plant sprout that’s can’t escape the security of that seed. “I’ll keep you safe”, it says but if you let it, your soul, just like that plant sprout will never see the light of day”. From the looks of the video, the robot is giving out free advice. Great track and very thought provoking. Paak was right on time with, "That's when I caught light of myself (My God). Gotta be somethin' more that I can't tell. Breakin' you down to size. There's gotta be more to life than myself. That's when I caught light of myself. Only one other part to add now that I listened to the full album: In Final Fantasy , a dark mage can cast Firaga. Any magic spell with aga in the end is the strongest of that series (or ija ending too) so Flamaga is the strongest flame spell.(Even one of the songs is FF4, a final fantasy 4). Important? Yes! You nailed the ego is a seed. And the theme of this whole album is burning. Passion, sorrow, fear, desire, just the strongest flames. Why when the bird landed he caught on fire. To burn the ego potentially? To finally have the flames of his spirit freed? Flames of love? Not sure. But a whole slew of flames on this album. At first I wasn’t sure how I felt about it, but now putting your understanding of the ego quote, I think I’m amassing a better idea of what this album is about. Maybe FlyLo sees himself a dark mage setting ablaze the strongest flames.

While I listen to this on repeat I feel that I can't "happily" praise this work. While the beat is inviting and the colors are warm I find intense uneasiness when watching this and I think that's because of this song's theme of "ego death". The animation greatly portrays the ugliness that resides in myself and I'm sure all of us. As hard as it was to see the idea of an ego's physical manifestation, I found it harder to swallow the fact that this ugliness resides in me and if brought out, I couldn't begin to understand how to deal with its fruition just like the countless others shown at the end. It's a helplessness that I personally dread and instead of leaving me empty I'm overflowing with anxiety. So.... well... good job on making me feel these feelings... sick beat too.

This is a very big comment. The fear of our growth. When you get there, youll be more than able to live and prosper within its essence. It's those thoughts that you are going through that is an obvious part of your process. I mean seriously though, doesn't having a mind that depicts things unjustly, eradicated. A good thing? I just want to see and think clearly of what is.

Do you think the bird at the end represents his falcon or bird spirit though? cause they're never seen in the same frame visually, and it would kind of make sense, I'm not sure what the robot bloke symbolises though, maybe he just likes Paak's music

There is one part though that i hear differently, always thought it said "Thats when I come out of myself" which is kinda shown in the video with the guy literally coming out of himself but it's hard to hear exactly what it is but I do hear "thats when I caught light of myself". Thanks for posting the lyrics, cool to read through.
