the dutch incident - the player isnt on the pitch so he can be offside as he re enters the field of play after the ball is kicked. you can be offside from a corner if the ball is not on the end line as well.

Not true, the rules for corners are similar as for throw ins in that you can't be offside - even if you would normally be in an offside position. The referee committee officially apologized for the mistake.

Google IFAB offside and you should be able to find it yourself. Googling Australia offside gave me a link (to footballaustralia) which seems to be to the official rules in Australia stating the exact same exclusions - perhaps you could verify this. It's a really obscure situation though which I never even considered until it happened last week, so I'm curious whether you've ever had to make a ruling on something like this one way or the other.

You're wrong about the offside corner. The person who took the short corner was not the person who was in line with the goal. The person in line with the goal at the corner flag was the one who received the pass, and therfore could well have been offside depending on if the defending team had players standing on the goalposts or not. Have another look at it
