I was amazed as well with these products, until the fan started acting weird. It still ran last time I used it but the rpm’s would fluctuate up and down and it didn’t blow near as powerfully on high as I did when I got it. And yes, I’d charge the batteries regularly. As for the chimney, it doesn’t hold as much charcoal as the Weber, I believe it’s rusting much faster, and it doesn’t work that great without the fan. This is just my experience with the products and obviously others love them. What I’ve learned just this year to make my charcoal light faster is to do like I’d already been doing in lighting my Vortex’s. I simply turn my other Weber chimney upside down and put it on top. I know that I could just split the charcoal between the two chimneys but one over the other is just easier.

I would buy this chimney if it was the same size as the Weber chimney. A full Weber chimney completely fills my two Weber baskets on my 22". The bbq dragon won't fill up my Weber baskets, so I would need 2 bbq dragon, which I can't justify. Nice video tho. I really hope bbq dragon comes iiut with a larger size.

Nice review...keep up the good work. Sunday I'm going to test B&B oak lump vs Jealous Devil lump..I"LL share my results on your next post. The one variant is charcoal weight or mass. The Jealous Devil is super hard charcoal.. and I'm waiting for my first bag of B&B

Been BBQing for over 50 years. Member of the SCA too. Have a couple of the regular old Weber Chimneys. Never felt the need to spend 70 bucks to gain 20 minutes lightup time. YMMV

@@FLYINGSMOKE No worries. I just use the Webers, rain or shine, when preping for a cook because they hold the same amount of briquettes time after time. I am used to the heat levels they produce and that I am cooking with, and I think consistency is WAY more important than speed. Also, one of those 30 buck chimneys wouldn't hold enough charcoal for a competition cook, FOR ME, so the cost would double. And like I said, YMMV. Different folks prep different ways for comps.

Ive seen the bbq dragon before but dang i didnt know in less than 10 minutes u get a chimney of coals ready to go. I sometimes use my air compressor with a long air wand if im in a hurry and at home. Usually ready in 10 minutes but not portable.

I appreciate that I took a year off because my wife was doing so well in competition. We basically focused all of our attention on that and I made sure she got to contests and she ended up ranked number five in the nation and SCA Ancillary points so she’s gonna get a national award so very proud of her. I will start making videos soon this year is gonna be much easier.

If you had enough chimneys I think it would be cool to see all of the different kinds of different brands of the charcoal briquettes and see all of them burn at once like B&B Kingsford Royal Oak the Cowboy kind and the one that your body use in competition

Chris B Critter that is fine. Steel melts at around 2500 degrees so it should be fine. Bit o always have my fire extinguisher just off camera.

Maybe a galvanized tub full of ice water too, if your hand ignites. (Is it steel? I thought it was aluminuminuminum)
@FLYINGSMOKE5 жыл бұрын
@@chrisbcritter6112 That is why I used welding gloves. And it is steel. I think it is galvanized steel. Aluminum that thin would be too bendy. And it melts at low temp.

It works great for lighting up B&B char logs as well, just make sure they are not all pointing up. A random pour in the chimney works far better than trying to organize all of them standing up (I tested this over the weekend lol). I wound up dumping the char logs and just tossing them in the chimney. They took straight off!

I'm on my second blower because the first one just stopped working. I contacted BBQ customer service and told them my blower stopped working and they replaced it with a new one. When I got the replacement blower I immediately put new batteries in it and guess what IT DIDN'T WORK!!! I played around with it smacked it with my hand twisted the blower neck around and it finally started blowing after bumping it a couple of more times. It started blowing slowly and then finally picked up speed. It has done this numerous times and now it won't blow at all. This thing is a piece of junk and not worth the money they charge for it. I did email customer service about the second blower not working and to date I have not gotten a reply...DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS CRAP!!!
@jaimatthews89542 жыл бұрын
Weber is better. It DOESN'T Take 30 mins silly 😆 more like 15 mins. But why have to pay for a Dragon blower? Just another gadget that isn't necessary. I don't like that the Dragon is much smaller, doesn't have holes where the Charcoal sits & that stupid fan. I have a cheap $3 portable mini fan I can use to speed up the process on the Weber if I wanted to.
