The Plaid I own has the 19s and gets realistically 325 - 350 miles of range. I got mine with FSD and an added 1yr warranty with 4k miles for $58k. Had several issues but Tesla covered all of it and now I couldn't imagine loving any car more.

It is a fair review. And it can be tricky if you don't have a key car and do have a dead phone. But if you bought a Plaid this would not be an issue, because you would have a key card as a backup for your phone. The steering Yoke was mostly a first year thing. They added a round steering wheel as standard, with the yoke as an option. I like the E-Ray (love that blue) but the electric motor is just for AWD and performance. Zero Eco pretense. The regular (lane keeping, cruise control) "Autopilot" should be free and working fine. The Plaid can be driven normally and then be as economical as a Prius, but as quick (in a straight line) as a Bugatti. So it is more about the particular balance between lightning acceleration and practicality that suits you best. You should try out the new Model 3 Performance, which runs high 10s in the 1/4 mile, but it is lighter, better handling, and is $50K-$60K new. Of course it is relatively generic, but it has Stingray acceleration, and decent handling, plus daily driver comfort and practicality. I got a used model Y for the price of a Civic, and it is an impressive daily driver. I've also got a Viper, so I understand that mindset as well.

The Plaid did the Nurburgring faster than a C8 Corvette. So while its not a track monster, its plenty compitant on a track. I easily get 300+ miles of range on aftermarket 20s in my Plaid real world range if keeping the speeds in double digits. The yoke peeling is very common, they almost all do it. Tesla replaces them for free with a much better quality revised version that doesnt peel like that. It's a mobile service ticket.

You point out about the door handles can freeze, a very valid point for a large portion of the US. A huge issue in Canada, and other high latitude countries. There is also the loss of range associated with frigid temperatures. That was painfully obvious last winter, with all the stranded EV's abandoned by frustrated owners, unable to access chargers. I just drove 350 miles from Phoenix to SoCal on a single charge in my 2024 MSP averaging 245 wh/mile and still had 50 estimated miles of range. I have the 19" wheels. If it's taking you longer than 30 minutes to hit 80% then there's something wrong with that Tesla. Also, the Plaid beats the crap out of your etron GT by nearly a minute at the Nuremberg. If you want to experience even better cornering, put it into track mode and let the torque vectoring work for you. 200 MPH requires track pack. S Plaids regularly hit 9.2 in the quarter. 9.5 would be on the street unprepped. The round wheel is standard on the 2023 so that yoke was added as an option. Also, unless you're adding FSD, it's not possible to option it out to $100K. I have regular key fobs for my MSP. I don't want to rely on my phone and the key card is too much of a pain. I do carry it but it's a last ditch resort.

Craig, I've thought of an incredible investment idea for you in Florida. MAYBE.. A parking garage built in a popular beach area somewhere around in Florida. The garage should be mostly hurricane and flood resistant, so no issues there. Maintenance should be easy and cheap. Best part, great income and more parking! How much does it cost to park around a beach? $10, $20, $30 for all day? It's an investment, so it's long term income for the life of the building. Don't get me wrong, that could be a $10 million dollar investment. But if you can park 300 cars or more, per day. Well that business never closes, and makes money 24/7 Just a thought I had watching your video. If parking isn't an issue, then forget the idea. Lol

I see the appeal of the power but cannot get past the financial part. Cost of ownership is ridiculous and the low price of home charging is offset by the charger itself, cost of tires, opportunity cost of all the niggling issues, etc. You can drive a high end Toyota/lexus product, with better quality, more comfortable, and drive 900 miles in a day without charging anxiety or qc issues. Dealers are everywhere when you do need service, and you can get 50k miles out of a set of decent tires. Bad enough to bury 100k in a deprciating value asset, but when combined with the other negatives its a non starter for me. The one year depreciation on a Tesla will pay for the gasoline of most cars for 150k miles.
