I would imagine that the POS has the 3.5 engine. The Nissan Sentra is a favorite of mine if it is clean and we buy for rough book. We do nothing but Buy Here - Pay Here, we need to buy these cars with the assumption that the POS transmissions are bad. We buy remanufactured units from Nissan dealerships. Suprisingly, they give a good warranty on these units. The rebuilds seem to be O.K. We haven't had any issues with the rebuilds (seems Nissan figured out how to fix them)..... Tip: Don't cheap out on tranny fluid, used the Nissan brand!

3:50 I hear ya, Nissan was crucial for me growing up. When I was a toddler my dad had a Datsun station wagon. My first car was a 94 Sentra 4Dr 5spd with no tac 😅 I raced my buddy's 91 240sx 4spd hatchback and won every time. He could only pass me after a quarter mile AND I had a passenger. Anyway, my next car I got a 2006 Sentra new and it's still riding strong today for a buddy my family gifted it to. It actually rides mechanically at 200k miles the same as it did brand new. 1.8 spec edition. LOVE that Aichi Industries 1.8 4cyl. Undersquare, forged steel rods, iron block, chain timing, fully ECU/throttle by wire, vvti, dohc, 6500 rpm rev. I drove it like a racecar and still got 28mpg. 4 spd, no stick this time, but this car certainly would be fun w a stick. It did need shocks all around at some point, like any car, and it had to get a steering rack replaced from city potholes eating it up. Engine/trans and rest of drivetrain never gave issues. It doesn't consume oil to any notable degree. I think that car will go to 400k+. It's just a very, very good machine that is very easy to work on. Tons of room under the hood, no plastic covers at all. That was the final year of great Nissan Sentras and possibly the rest of their makes. They dropped the perfectly good jatco and aisin auto transmissions they had in everything and went for all out CVT. They've got some good years of certain models, but its mostly shit from about 2007-2018. I always admired the Maxima even into the 10's, moreso than Camry, Avalon, or Accord, but it was a more impressive sedan in the 90s and early 00s than it is in modern era. The newest Nissans have finally reached passable status with the CVT stuff. It's not half bad anymore, but I think the avg cost of maintenance over 200k mi is still higher on the cvts than regular AT. I had a buddy with a 5 speed Pathfinder in high school too. Man all those were great machines you're right. A damn shame they went to an era of crap 😒

I fully agree with you on how junky Nissans have become in the last 20 years. I have owned several Nissans from the 80s and 90s and these vehicles were very well put together. But that is not the case just like you said since 2003, particularly with dubious vehicles like the Pathfinder and Armada which are lucky if they get to 100,000 miles before the transmission implodes. Other Nissans are just as bad including the Xterra, or even worse the Murano, which typically blows a transmission by 50,000 miles. If I was going to recommend a used Nissan I would say the (A32) fourth generation Maxima (1995-1999) would be at the top of my list, but these are getting pretty hard to come by in good to excellent condition. Of course the hardbody D21 pickups and D21-based Pathinders from the 90s (1990-1996) are tough, reliable vehicles as well but these too are getting hard to find in decent condition. Pathfinders made between 2000 and 2002 are pretty decent and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend those as well.

I know a lot of people here have been bashing pretty bad on Nissans but I have to say my 2012 Altima has been super reliable I’ve done maintenance on it like it should never had an issue other than the A/C going out around 100k but it has been pretty good car to me it currently has 168k on it and it still runs really good..

One trip I was there for 6 weeks bouncing between tampe orlando and miami. The cost of the rental would have paid for a car for almost a year. The exhibits I was installing would fit into a mini van (sans seats).

11:52 that's all because ford puts water absorbing padding around each opening to force people to sell their vehicles due to premature rusting. I bought one for $700 cdn and it had been sitting in the sun in the dry for months and I pulled out the padding and it was dripping wet. There is NO diff in cost between closed cell and open cell foam. ZERO yet ford went with open cell (aka a sponge).

40psi of air in a car tire is WAY too much...unless it's a heavy duty truck, tire pressure should be between 32-35 max. Don't believe me, read the sidewall...NEVER put the max psi in a tire...as you drive, tires get hot and as tires get hot, they typically gain pressure. Which will cause a blowout. As the temperature outside goes up, so does tire pressure. As the temperature goes down, so does tire pressure...people who freak out about tire lights kill me. 95 percent of the time there is no issue with the tire. It's the sensors acting stupid. We don't need tpms in cars, people should know how to check tire pressure in order to own and operate a vehicle.
