This classic timing (of leaving Sydney in arvo and arriving in Bangkok (or south east asia) in 9-10pm) used to be go to departure prior to pandemic whenever I go to Thailand. But flew them recently last year prior to then switching to double daily with a350 (was only 1x daily with 777 with 10am departure). Was good but nothing beat the feeling of leaving Sydney arvo and arrive at night… Also had a few funny flights from Bangkok to Tokyo, arrived in Narita (on a newer 777) and depart from hnd.

Best time as Suvarnabhumi is not that busy and customs 🛃 is almost empty 😄

@@FlyLive just be careful not to arrive at the same time as the Japan/China or Korea flights since they arrive at midnight, luckily the syd/mel or perth arrive just that bit earlier so you dodge these arrivals… Morning are a nightmare due those flights as well + Europe. The arrival at 3pm for a 10am departure in Sydney wasn’t too bad ether, still had some euro flights but not as common as morning. Luckily it’s only Melbourne flights that had to deal with that haha, but I feel Sydney may come into play once WSI open…

Awesome trip report. The cabin looked nice especially when they turned on the moodlight. Many people said that the food really good, however, I find the presentation is just average, not appealing. I hope to try Thai Airways in the future to try it.

Wow, last time I flew Thai was pre Covid on their B747-400. On the flight back to Sydney which leaves BKK early morning, you get to see the volcanoes over Indonesia. What time did this flight leave Sydney? I’m pretty sure pre Covid Thai flew out of Sydney somewhere between 10-11am , arriving 4pm Thai local time? First time I’ve seen a Thai Airways flight arrive in the evening.
