Russell losing one of his "Dumbass girls" was poetic perfection (and the fact he technically did it again by taking Sandra of all people immediately after)

Obviously Russell and his antics are the highlight of the season, but there’s something to be said about how Natalie played the game. Constantly being on the right side of votes while on the considerably weaker tribe and being on everyone’s good side the entire time is no easy task. Her gameplay might not have been flashy but it was the perfect counter to Russell and won over the favor of everyone in the jury
@esdeathisbae94802 жыл бұрын
She probably voted the way Russel asked her too the entire time with the exception of Erik which you can argue was her move since she convinces the galu women to dump him but she is the number one case of what survivor is about getting to the end and pleasing your seasons jury and that jury wanted to be treated with respect

What is left out is the part where Russel was a true villain and treated people like shit. He forgot that getting to the end turns the tables and the social aspect matters. Most of the tribe couldn't stand him and that's what caused his loss.
@zacharysuero90127 ай бұрын
If they had taken like 1/3 of Russell’s confessionals, and spread them among the rest of the cast, this would probably have been a top 5 season. It’s still really good but it was edited as a prequel to heros vs villains, which slightly hurt it

Only Heroes vs Villains was a better demonstration of the real purpose of the jury. Natalie adhered religiously to the Rule for Radical that stated *never go outside the expertise of your people.* Throughout the first 38 days, that was definitely the key, as she saw what happened to those that crossed Russell. It is not for nothing that she worked to keep his name off the tribe's lips at the first Tribal Council. Play his grape-feeding slave girl Friday and he keeps his heat-seeking stink bombs off you. And she made it look easy-peasy (hint: no contestant before or since her has ever been in the position of needing this approach). On the final night, she could adhere to the next Rule: *whenever possible, go outside the expertise of your enemy.* For context, all of her weak suits would cease to be an issue while her strongest suit came into play. Meanwhile, all of his strong suits would become useless while his weakest suit came into play. Your final opponent _does_ matter. _Leverage: Redemption_ had an interesting line about the kind of opposition the team went after: "People like {the episode's main villain} who... who are greedy and - and use people, they have a blind spot. They can't imagine anyone who's not like them." The same thing undid Russell each time he played: he assumed they would think about the contest the way he did. Don't anyone talk to me about "outwit, outplay, outlast." Instead, talk to me about "this one jury, this one opponent, this one night." You conform or you're dog toast.

This season is pretty legendary, but I have it ranked smack dab in the middle, at #22. He got wayyyyyyyyyy too much screentime, considering he only got 2 of 9 jury votes. Natalie is so underrated, and without her leading the charge to get Erik out, the Foa Foa 4 wouldn't have made it as far as they did. Russell's move on Kelly was awesome, but Natalie got the ball rolling to knock Galu out. She also had the votes of the Galu women minus Shambo on lock, plus Brett and Jaison, she won just by being so likeable. Episode 2 was probably the worst episode of the season. For one, Mike going home, and Foa Foa still having to go to tribal council. Plus you can't forget one of the most underrated douchebags in Survivor, Ben Browning. He was an asshole to Yasmin, chopped wood in the middle of the night, and got kicked out of the challenge, and still didn't get voted off. It was frustrating to say the least. And with Marisa, in literally any other season, she isn't the first boot

@theggamer2824 The amount of strictly physical games that have won Survivor doesn't even need five fingers to count, and winning strategic games still require a good enough social game to help secure the winning position. Russell's very emotional game that sacrificed the very means for victory is the textbook definition on how to lose this game. His only hope would be to take Brian's place in Thailand's FTC
