Wow i finally found this video after doing the same thing of only connecting the power directly to the module (without PPM) but still wont bind to my Flysky receiver. Suspected that it needs PPM for it to work and this video just confirmed that! Thank you so much. I have FS-T4B and i will be doing same mod.

This is a $40 module on a $40-50 transmitter. Can't it be cheaper? I mean, after all is said and done you still have a FSi6. You could buy one of those Jumper TS12 for this price and not have to mod it.

Just tested something very similar to this on a friends radio (Also FS-i6). Can confirm that it works flawlessly with TBS Crossfire. I did something like this about 3 years ago to a old Turnigy radio;) Keep it up! Having a 3D printed enclosure for Crossfire or other modules on a FS-i6 will change the transmitter game.

Did you decide to come-up with this idea because the iRangerX iRX6 multi-protocol modulue is no longer available for the FlySky FS-i6(i6x) radios ?

On the back of these transmitters, there's a circular DIN-plug, the trainer port. That can be used as an input to simulators, or connecting a trainer-transmitter. Doesn't this port also output PPM? Wouldn't it be possible to use this port instead of running the wires from the inside like you did? Seems neater, in my opinion.

If crossfire can take PPM input, then it would be no problems. And R9M also takes PPM, binding and power settings can be done by the switches on the rear. One thing some people do: So you can insert a reciever (example a XM+) on the R9M and have a relay station.

Could u measure the mW coming out of the transmitter as well as maybe the performance of the antenna and compare those to the frsky’s antenna and transmitter. I know u r going to do a range test, but doing these separate experiments as well as the range test would help I think, because they have fewer factors and chances for error

Ok so say you do this, but do it with the r9m module. How would you get Rssi on the osd. Would you have to use the analog rssi from the reciver? Or is there an easier method? I assume telemetry won’t work will it?

The rssi directly from the receiver is the easiest and most logical way isn't it? With upgraded firmware the xm+ has rssi on channel 16.

Couldn't you have just used the ppm signal from the port on the back. I am pretty sure the connection where you connect for simulators has a ground, ppm, and I believe a 5v as well. Would mean Les soldering and disassembly. Oh and will this work with the modded 14 ch firmware on the i6

that great you did it,, im using frsky dht module in fs-i6 its super simple to add ppm wire and +- and ready to go, but you need to cut power wire for existing stock module otherwise it will suck battery quick.

If you set the FlySky in "Student Mode" it will cut off the power to the internal Tx module.

@@mahmoodali7522 Sorry, I don't understand what you mean with "buiting mode". The external Multi-protocol module only needs the supply +, GND and PPM signal wires. In "Student Mode" the builtin transmitter module is off, but the PPM signal output is on.

This is so awesome that your doing this...i debated on getting rid of the FlySky i6 controller and changing over to FrSky. But i learnt how to fly FPV on the I6. And yes even though its a cheap radio im attached to it. So if i can mod it to be multi protocol radio. I'm using a deviation devo 7e mod with flysky. The firmware is open source and makes binding multiple models very easy.. sucks that you have to plug and hold buttons on the board

I have done the firmware mod on my i6 and so can transmit in s.bus rather than I.bus. If i were to use the Frsky r9m module, is there a pad, that i could take the S.bus signal from, and use S.bus instead of ppm with the r9m. This way there you wont have the ppm latency and if you were to use the r9 mini receiver you can get rssi from a built in channel. Would this Work?

Achmad Nofandi a relay station would add latency because you have to code and decode the signal twice. The only reason to use I.bus rather than ppm is because of the reduced latency.

Hey what's up drone mesh my name is Ray Ray and I got a little thing called a d d i c c t e d - 2 d r o n z anyways I might be considerably older than you but you are my hero I idolize you in what all you can do with drone and fpv you are so no you are a genius I have mimic everything that I am able to do myself because I am on a fixed income I mimic everything you do I'm fixing to put the modem in my FlySky i6 cuz I have several mjx bugs series toy drones to the modem to Austin things for me just got to wait and save up to get it anyways my question is right now I bought my first field drone but it was already put together in the Box yks 250 with from the factory doors cc3d get to 1808 Motors and it came with the FlySky I6 controller I know all the cheap set up but I've got the case Co 3 fpv with the fatshark goggles that are actually donated to me woohoo LOL anyways man I'm looking to get range out of this but right now I can't even get it to come back on before it was like any other drone in and out you know that the sticks in and then out you can't start that like this now and it won't start at all I cannot get it to come on because when I received it I've only flown it one time I've had it almost a month and have flown it one fucking time I'm so pissed now one of the ESC Chaz went out why I don't know cuz I hadn't flown it and I've been having to fly my CD ass toys because I have to fly everyday I just went through a divorce because of my drone I love my drones anyway this is a long story I'm sorry look man I just want to let you know that I enjoy your videos as soon as I get some money I'm going to contribute to the channel promise I need to get a hat or shirt something how much are they about 20 bucks I got to do my module first but you take care of man keep them in the air you know I keep mine in the air every day if I don't working on it all night lying all day peace out
