I have been super impressed by what a low wind monster they are ...... I am riding a 2100cm2 foil and skim board with foil attachment and I have no issues in 6 or 7 knots. Once it hits 10 knots I am completely over-powered on the foil. My struggle with both 13m and 8m Peaks is once those side pockets fill with water, reverse launching them is almost impossible. I struggle a bit with the side launch as well, but downwind launching is flawless. They just pop straight up.

The only luck I've had with relaunches have been with the new Peak5 2.5m. Other than that, I've had no luck. I think this is because usually if I crash them, it's lines slacked and by the time I can get tension to start to relaunch, the wing is already too underwater to become successful.

@@adventure-logs I have been able to re-launch the 5 nearly all the time and the 8 about fifty percent. But I have a few long swims in as well :-)

@@bigtone667 Yea I've had some long swim ins as well which is why I use to prefer my Soul 6m because it has near Peak characteristics plus all the normal foil benefits but since getting the Peak5 6m, its really all I've been riding but I've been down now for a month due to my 2nd shoulder surgery so looks like my summer is out too. I'm starting to edit some footage for a video comparing the new 2.5m vs the 3.0m. Fun little rocket of a kite.

Yes I think I’m giving up on GoPro, mines been nothing but problems. I was looking into the new Insta360 but so many people have had issues I’m gonna pass on that too. My problem is I don’t review my footage till much later and get stuck with what I’ve taken. Good thing this is just a hobby but I am trying to prevent the noise. Bugs me as much as it does you!

When you say a lot of power to stay upwind on the twin tip, does that mean I need to travel faster or still go slow to get upwind?

One word, drift! It drifts like nothing else including LEIs. It makes riding swell fantastic. The ability to ride hands off the bar is also amazing. You can really just concentrate on your ride and feeling and just forget about the kite.

It’s difficult to relaunch, not impossible. Just takes a different technique and patience but something that should be known before buying. Also as you can see the kite still flies very well hands off so you really need to fly the kite into the water to really crash. In no way would the kite be destroyed though. These peaks are really extremely durable.

I have the same 633 and about your size. I am keen on buying one kite only for light lake wind. Do you think 11 will have a similar performance as 13 or much different? Obviously it's a smaller size and less grunt but I want a smaller kite as it can be cumbersome in bad launch areas like lakes and such.

Not for you? If you hydrofoil and like to ride waves, there’s nothing better out there. Got the tubing replaced on the Pixto and still use it time to time but the love is gone. It’s a shame because because I was going to replace all my bars with them. Now I’m looking at the new racebar from Flysurfer. Very similar to the connect bar this Prak had and I was really impressed.

Thanks for the great video. How does the bottom end compare to a sonic 3? I know you have an 11m sonic 3, have you got up foiling with it in 6 knots like the peak 4 13m?

I would say they are similar in the bottom end but the Peak is easier to achieve it. I really haven't been able to push the bottom end of the Sonic 3 because I've been at a lake which doesn't have the most stable wind. While I could fly the Peak there at those speeds, the S3 can be a little bit of a handful. Next month I am moving to South Padre Island where I should be able to kite significantly more and really push the limits with good stable stead wind.

I've had this kite since last summer for really light wind days on a foil. I seem to have a love hate relationship with it, its the only kite that will fly in 3mph winds. I guess that these are the days when you have the most problems leaving a bad taste in your mouth. I have thrown it into the sea to many time on down loop gybes. Think I'm going to sell it and change to a wing this year.

Yea that's my only complaint about the Peak4's is the lack of relaunchability but again it is designed as a snowkite. Perhaps longer lines would help complete the downloops for you. I just don't know of any other kite with the same low end performance out there.

Honestly the jumping is never going to be great and I think with even more wind flapping/deforming can become an issue. It’s just not meant for TTs but it is doable in a pinch.

Depends on the wind. For stronger wind, you can go shorter like 15-18m, light wind needs longer lines. Really its all personal preference but you can't go wrong with stock Flysurfer length of 23m

No the safety doesn’t work but Flysurfer did just release a race bar which would work and is very similar.

I was just demoing it so didn't keep it. For my style of hydrofoiling(in waves) it didn't fit right and I'm living down in South Padre Island now where the wind is always blowing so I don't need something for super low winds. If I lived somewhere where the wind was usually around 6kts I'd buy it though. Currently my quiver is a 6m Soul1 and 11 Sonic3. I have on order a Soul2 6m and 8m.

During your relaunch attempts working the steering lines you had it tipped for a moment 13:01 where ( it looked to me ) like a yank on the front lines while still holding the upper steering line would have powered it up sideways then shot it right back up. I realize I am armchair relaunching here, but in all the relaunch attempt video you published, you were completely ignoring the front lines which, in my experience, is a big mistake.

I use pulling on the front lines once the kite is sitting on it's ass. Usually there's just not enough front line tension to make that much of a difference otherwise.

@@adventure-logs there are audio software programs that can clean that up. My video editor is free and will separate video and audio files from same clip. I then use this free audio editing software and sample a period with just the background noise. It can then eliminate that noise from the whole audio so you are basically just left with voice. Much cheaper than a new camera and I doubt a camera will solve all your background noise issues anyways.

18 knots on a 13m single skin. You're a 180 pounds and you couldn't stay up wind on a twin tip, that makes this kite seem utterly useless.

Then you don't quite understand what this kite is for. It's originally designed as a SNOW kite that people are adapting to use with a hydrofoil. Upwind ability is where the kite lacks but on snow/HF that is never a problem. Also I was using a board which requires a great amount of power to ride. With a flatter board or door, you wouldn't have an issue going upwind. Even then it would still lack compared to say an inflatable or traditional double skin foil kite.

@@adventure-logs No sorry, I snowkite and kitesurf and have both LEI's and foil kites, I've even used land kites in the water. If a 13m single skin can't get you upwind at 18knots then there is something either you're doing wrong or the kite itself isn't great. I suppose it's cheap compared to say the Hyperlink for example, but unless you're just using it for snow it's definitely not worth it.
