The FlyTanium customized BM51 turns a great butterfly knife into a fantastic one! The standard G10 scales have been replaced with heavier, aftermarket custom milled titanium handles. The handles feature a unique skeletonized hole pattern with ergonomically chamfered edges. These feel fantastic in the hand and the quality is superb. A beautiful stonewash finish rounds out the look!
With the addition of the titanium scales, the weight of the FlyTanium 51 comes in at 4.52 oz, adding about 1.2 oz. The added weight does wonders for the flipping dynamics and gives it a more substantial feel. Overall, we are super pleased with this customized 51 from FlyTanium and sure you will be too!
Please Note: Benchmade's Warranty does not cover disassembly of any knife by any person other than Benchmade's Warranty department.

This is absolutely perfect for the 51. If Benchmade hadn't jacked their prices up, and subsequently made this much more expensive than necessary compared to what you get with other options (like the Replicants that you guys will be shipping out soon), I'd sell my 51 right now and get one of those. Don't get me wrong, I'm drooling looking at that thing right now- It's damn beautiful and I know that I would love flipping it, but I only payed 185 for my 51 a few years ago. I'd pay 100 for the scales any day of the week, but I won't pay another 100 because Benchmade feels the need to price gouge.

Do they sell just the titanium parts so I could do it myself to my benchmade 51?

I just got my stonewashed flytanium bm51 in the mail today and I have a question. Should the blade be hitting the inside liners of the knife? my blade is smacking and scraping the liners every time I open the knife. Tried tightening it but its impossible to get it any tighter without the knife not moving. There is a ridiculous amount of blade play and I don't think its good for the knife to be scraping the insides like that. Should I be concerned?

I think normal BM51s have that as well. You could try to put a little bit of tape on the liners to the blade doesn't scrape them.

I had this same issue with my stock BM51, the screws you should try tightening aren't the pivot screws, but the zen-pin screws (the smaller ones about a half inch down from the pivot). That solved it for me, my pivot screws can be nice and lose and the blade doesn't touch the liners as long as the zen-pin ones are tight. It also significantly improved the action of the spring latch, so if that also seems sloppy that's likely the issue.

nearlyagoodlaugh see that's what I did but another issue is that I cannot tighten the zen pins all the way down. When I do the knife becomes completely immobile. tightening the zen pins all the way does not allow the knife to move in the slightest, they have to be incredibly loose for the knife to even flip.

Will Benson That's strange, I would say that maybe it's due to the FlyTanium scales, but looking at the teardown of the 51, it looks like the zen pins are stepped so the liners will stop against them at a set distance anyway. However, thicker scales could allow them to be tightened more than on stock with the same length screws. I can't speak for sample variation, since I only have one stock 51, and I've never taken it apart completely, but on mine I can completely bottom out the zen pins on both handles to the point where they couldn't be any tighter, and my blade will still swing freely. Maybe someone who's owned multiple 51s can add to this.
