Great tour, Justin. We (speaking for all of us) love seeing this kind of stuff - it's footage that would never make it to air on a cable network, but is like gold for those of us in the hobby. Thanks for sharing these treasures.

What a great video discovery! Thank you. Our USAF family lived in our 1944 Alma 27 foot trailer w/o toilet from '46 (my birth) until 1955ish. It was built during the War and the carpet was only the carpet padding. Mom swept up balls of fuzz for years. We were fortunate...lots of suddenly deactivated vets had no homes for their families. Lt Dad worked hard to get our home: attached to Mom's Dad's '40 Chevy it was our home in Cheyenne, Denver, Tucson, Alexandria, Lafayette and Monticello, Indiana.

...more uninvited trivia: Our Alma had its heater to the left of the front door near where my five year old body slept freezing under the Winter blankets on the couch. Every morning I'd wake to the noise of our shivvering Pop only in his underwear squatting down to light the fuel oil (too expensive to run all night 😕) and I'd peek real quick from under my warm covers to watch him freezing to death taking care of his family. Then I'd listen to the heater crackling and the welcome stink of the fuel oil. My earliest lesson from our Pop of what Fatherhood meant.

...the Rockies between Denver and Cheyenne 1949... Our Chevy overheated towing us and our trailer over the mountain top. Dad got out to try to add water...a regular event with any 6 cylinder 1940 Chevy. His four year old son (me), alarmed that his Pop left the car running, reached over helpfully from the back seat and shut off the keys. I could never understand why he did not thank me for my well-intended effort.

Third video has me pumped about my 16' 1960 Mobile Scout I recently traded for. Is a total gut job of a canned ham. But it originally came with a full bathroom so I think that's neat. Not sure what to do with it yet. Restore it or make some kind of food trailer. For now it's parked in the driveway next to our new travel trailer waiting on its 2nd chance. Happy RVing.

Wow, what a helpful video! It's good to know of a place like this that has, restores and can provide advice and information on old trailers. I'll definitely try and visit your place some day as I need info. on a couple of old trailers I'd like to fix. One is a Curtis-Wright that looks like the Silver Streak you showed. The other is a Westcraft 20 footer single axle. I have the manufacturer tag w/serial # and would be willing to pay you for your time, advice and information on these. Perhaps I can go there soon when im in the area.

That Palace Royal reminds me of the trailer I saw off the Donner Summit Cliff standing on its nose, over sixty years ago. I have been trying to identify that trailer for years. I knew it was a top of the line forties model. The top of it looks like it, but the shape was a little different, longer and not so tall and thin, the one I saw was less tall and a little wider, what I would not give to see one. It is no doubt long gone... I think I was about 6 or 7, winter.

Hi What a fantastic vidio...Were are you located? After the full restoration what price do you sell them for? I know there all shapes and sizes. But beautiful I'm a great fan of vintage you can not compare the old one's to the new one's. The older one's are cozy homey look & feel. Compared to new!!! Thank For the tour!🇺🇸

all these round shapes. I had a 1947 with sharp edges everywhere, slatted windows, that trolley windows up front in a raised roof. the interior layout never changed.. looks a little like the long long trailer, but is different. I did not know what kept it standing for 6 years I ha d it, and found it was all steel on a box beam!

@mobiltec
@mobiltec 3 жыл бұрын
@@jimkamradt8387 Then he should have said "teardrop shape". He's supposed to be a pro. So he should use the proper language. The two things that make a "teardrop" a teardrop is that number one, you can not stand up in it. Number two, it has an outside accessible galley. This is what I was told at an all Teardrop rally... So either all of them were wrong, or Justin is wrong.
