Sitting while kiting is super fun! Last month I did it all afternoon in strong wind but a huge field, also good to learn to manage getting dragged, i.e. wing upside down, and what to do.

Hi Greg. I like your videos, but I have some comments on this one. You are using a small "ground handling wing. I wished you did this vid with a full size, old beaten wing. Like most of beginners pilots are doing. You make it look very easy, and with a small wing it is. When trying these techniques with a full size old beaten wing, people get frustrated. If the wind is too light, the wings doesn't rise. If the wind is a bit stronger, and you don't master it, you get dragged across the field into the barbed wire, where sheeps are shitting on you 😅. Sorry for being a bit sarcastic😊. Keep on going making content. (but not with specialised gear)

Shit I Kited my Epic 2 one day when it was a little too gusty. Drug 100 yards towards water and my reserve even came out. It was a shit show.

Hi Greg, You mention getting a windsock from cross country magazine. It doesn’t include the metal pole with a connection like all the windsock sellers. Where do I buy a pole that the windsock can easily attach to and easily sticks in most ground surfaces?

Hi Greg, If the wind direction is not perpendicular to the center of the wing what happens to the wall? Is the side of the wing more upwind than the other side inflate sooner and therefore higher than the other side?

Would you online ground handling course be able to be directly applied to a powered paragliding wing? Such as a 23 foot Qubik? That's what I have and I'm brand new just out of the basic class looking to master ground handling.

Yes it would work very well for you, the wings all kite in a similar way, its mostly about body positioning and inputs. The only difference is the upright position you need for a launch run, but learning the feeling of a paragliding style launch helps you understand the aerofoil power

Hi Greg I’m not clear on the dynamics of a level wall. Is a wall not level solely because a person is not standing opposite the middle/center of the wing? Or is the wall not level because the wind direction is not perpendicular to the middle/center of the wing? If the person is standing perpendicular to the center of the wing but the wind direction is not perpendicular to the center of the wing will the wall still be level or vice versa if the wind direction is perpendicular to the center of the wing but the person isn’t standing perpendicular to the center of the wing will the wall still be level? Or do both the person and the wind direction have to be perpendicular to the center of the wing to get a level wall? Thanks in advance for your explanation.

It's fairly simple. It's a combination of the two factors. In essence, if you've built a wall and one side is slightly higher, you just move sideways towards the higher side until wall is level.

Hey Greg Loving your videos. Very informative and loads of great content. What would say is the best and most secure way to transport your wing and harness, when travelling to different countries? We've all seen the videos about poor luggage handling, and it's big worry of mine for such an expensive piece of kit. Thanks mate.👍

I got a Mountain Equipment 100L wheeled suitcase and was able to put my wing and harness etc in there. Got it from Cotsworld Outdoor. Super sturdy, looks like a normal suitcase so not worried someone might pinch it or the airline company want to charge more for ‘sporting goods’.

I've never had a windsock. I let my wing, and my ears tell me everything I need to know about the wind.. Acquire understanding. Knowledge on its own is just pub quiz trivia...

Nobody's going to máster ground handling in 10 minute's or 10 Hours. Try 100 hours. As starting point .

agreed im only a new pilot but have maybe 50hrs of groundhandling in upto 20kts probably more than my flying hours and i see pilots with hundreds of hours getting plucked or dragged on launch when im fine.
